Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Wendy, it sounds like a fun way to see the country. Except the article is from 1999 and looks like the company shut down in 2009. Probably due go the economy. I've always thought cruising our rivers would be fun & educational but I couldn't find anyone doing this now. Why not, they load rail cars in Mexico with RVs?

Well, we decided if the house wasn't going to sell right away to branch out and see things in KS. So, we pulled a book off the shelf and started looking for things but as it turns out, even though we didn't buy it that long ago, it was published in 2001. So, the two things we were considering exist no longer. I have ordered the new edition published in 2010 but it will still require that I follow up online to make sure whatever still exists. I know years ago, doesn't seem that long, in the Good Sam magazine they advertised those trips, the one in Mexico and one on the Mississippi River but no more. Sadly, a sort of storyland park with animals we went on field trips when I was child just closed about a month ago and I was feeling so close to getting one more visit. Makes you wish you didn't have to wait even one more day!
Another bucket list item that dropped from my list... there was a company that rented large pontoon boats for RVs at several of the large lakes in Nevada & California. You would drive your RV onto the pontoon boat, tie it down and then cruise around the lake just like in a houseboat. The company went out of business about 20 years ago and to this day I still watch for some of these pontoon boats to come up for sale on Craigslist. I wonder what happened to them...maybe they were turned into houseboats.
