Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
We use an electric one burner stove at approx 90%. The only noise it make is a small click when it goes on and off. To make it safe we always install it on top of our gas stove in our RV.
I haven't had one of those for years. I considered getting one but before when I had one it seemed to take forever to heat and am wondering if you find this. I did see one like that which was the smooth glass top but it was pricey. Our adult son with DS gets freaks out by open flames so we have never used the gas stove top that much when we were in the RV.
I would go inductance, even though it is more expensive and might require new pans. Inductance is so much better. For now we use propane and it works quite well. We always preferred a gas range in the house for the precise control and knew when it was off, it was off.

I was looking at the induction ones but I'd have to research them. I like the electric cook pots but all I can find has the non-stick lining and it just doesn't last. I prefer stainless steel interior and we do a lot of one-pot meals so maybe something like this would work well. There are 3 of us and I do a lot of cooking. For us, propane is a major expense when we have full-timed. I don't like cleaning the stove top much either. I am too tired to scrub by the end of the day.
I like the idea of induction because of the efficiency over gas and electric as well as the fast heating, but I'm concerned about going all-electric while boondocking. So I am debating replacing my gas stovetop with induction with my coleman gas as backup, or keeping my gas cooktop and using induction on the counter and on the picnic table. It partly depending on when I upgrade my batteries I suppose.
We have 2 Nu Way (Buy 1 get the 2nd for shipping ) that work well for us. When they die we'll move up to a better brand but for the price, size and weight, they work great for us. Also considering the fact that last year we used a little less than 40lb of propane for the entire year, but had electric hook-ups that we took advantage of using the countertop cookers.
