Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Spreadsheet set up to compare the construction build and features?

Does anyone have some kind of spreadsheet set up to compare the important construction build and features of the different 5th wheel brands? Don't want to reinvent the wheel...

Don't believe such a animal exists. You have to do your own homework. In the price range you looking for they most have 12" light gauge steel I-beam, 2" aluminum studded walls with foam insulation sandwich in. Your lightweights use 10" beams. Roof and floor insulation varies between brands and models in that brand. Dual pane windows are optional (they are needed also), appliances are typical rv "junk". Junk is a strong word but that is the norm. Delta, Peerless, etc you don't get unless high end units.

As Glenn said, you will probably need to come up with your own. The big advantage is that you can make it reflect the things that are most important to you. I think most of us have created something to help us with trying to focus on one coach.

The Junkman: You're talking about the "RV Buyer's Guide", Trailer Life/Motorhome magazine publishes it, I think. I buy them every single year and my current copy is ragged. I usually pick mine up from the grocery store or you can order them through Good Sam Club or Trailer Life. They give a basic breakdown and website addresses for the manufacturers in the back and not all manufacturers advertise because the ads are very expensive but the major ones are usually there. It can be helpful to look through blogs also as some people go into detail about why they choose the unit they did so this link might be useful: www.hitchitch.com/ Heartland has an buyer's guide for their units where you can put some simple choices in and it brings up suggestions on units that "fit": www.heartlandrvs.com/index.php Most manufacturers have drawings on their construction and if they don't, I don't consider them. As with vehicles, people have very strong preferences and opinions about what is the best choice and unfortunately, everyone doesn't agree so it becomes a very individual thing. Consider your current unit and what you don't like or what you are pretty sure wouldn't hold up and go from there. You have a great advantage in having a current unit since many start from scratch. Good Luck!

After months of research, I spent several days and nights coming up with a spreadsheet to compare our "top 5" fifth wheel manufacturers.  It is biased towards what WE are looking for in our FT unit, but I would be happy to share it with you.  Just send me a personal message with your current email address and I will send it to you.
