Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
I know everyone is thinking about warmer places now, but I'm doing some long range planning!
When July through September get here again, I want to be in a cooler place. My wife has COPD, so higher altitudes is not the answer. Where would we find the coolest places in the good ol' USA for those months?

The Pacific coast from Washington around Port Townsend into the redwoods of California and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, these are cooler places in summer. I suspect Maine is also cooler. When I say "coast" I mean the coastline, Seattle and Portland are inland and can get warm.

The Oregon/Washington Coast! That is where we will spend next summer. We came to PA because we needed to spend some time with family and we have been grateful for a mild summer. I was worried! And even though our home in Oregon was hotter than normal, the coast is almost always cooler.
I'm not sure why my friend with COPD suffered in WA this summer - but did okay south of Newport, OR. Just FYI when putting together all the information
Jodee, the Washington Coast is wetter and probably more mildowy than Newport OR. That would be my guess.
Yup. Humidity plays a big part in breathing comfort. Cool and dry is best. Thanks for the replies, y'all! I think we are going to try New England next summer. Perhaps a month in Maine and a month in Vermont/
We were in New England (NH, Maine) for early summer. At first the humidity bothered my COPD but it was brief. Still preferred it to the PNW because of much more sunshine. 😄

Just so you know, that the is relatively low humidity in the PNW. We just do not seem to get much of the stiffeling humidity like the East. So although we may have more rain and more mildowy, it just has a different feel to it.
with that said, the Southern Oregon Coast has the best of both worlds.......cool summer and yet drier than most of the Northern coast.
I bet the Northern CA coast would be much the same.
Sherry - keep in mind you had to be in one of the wettest places in the Pacific NW!! And if I remember correctly you arrive in late May / early June, time the arrival for after July 4th and summer in the Pacific NW is much nicer!! Friends just arrived here in Sacramento yesterday, Seattle's had a wonderful September thus far with temps still hovering in the 70's and low 80's, sounds like perfect late summer weather to me.
