Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Hi All! We're Bob & Kathrun from Northern California (Sonoma County) and we have nine months to go to start living our dream! Seems like a ways away but we know it will be here before we know it. (?!)
Planning on a fifth wheel and taking off in June 2015. First thing it to gussy up the house and get it ready to sell, buy our home on wheels and head north to Oregon for the summer to be with our daughter's family. After that, we're on our own! Can't wait. We'll be at the Fall Rally in Goshen in a couple of weeks - the ones that looks like deer in the headlights!
Congrats! We lived in Placerville before heading out fulltime two months ago. Love, love, LOVE it! I'm retired but my husband is still working and so far, it's been great. I was researching for 1 1/2 years. Many will tell you, the time will FLY! If you'll be purging, start now. The process can really take a long time and can be a lot of work and for some, stressful.
We'll see you at the rally. I hope that earthquake didn't cause you any damage.
We have a thread for the "graduating" class of 2015 and a lot of us are from California. Click on the Search in the blue bar above and enter Dreamers Class of 2015 to find us. We're all getting excited with most of us now under 11 months to go!!
I have been purging for 14 months (slow and steady) and with seven months to go we will be ready to go without a huge push at the end. It definitely helps the time go more quickly .
We were doing the same thing last year.....time went very quick!! Took off full-timing(camp hosting)....left Northern Ca. and moved everything to Oregon. Best move we ever made.
We're also from NorCal. I have delayed my retirement until November of 2015, but at that time, we'll find our fulltime rig, with the plan being to hit the road in spring of 2016. Still debating the type of RV we'll go with. I've been research for 6-7 years now, and that is probably too long, since so much has changed over that time. It's actually stressful constantly thinking about the tiniest of details over and over! Anyway, we too are purging, and hope to see you on the road soon!

We're six-months behind you as we'll head out December next year. We joined this site four years ago, we're very slow learners :), but the time has gone quickly and we have been able to gain much insight from the folks on this site. And, probably just as important, use that insight to address several issues which now allow us to travel this great country of ours with a great sense of purpose and freedom, which certainly includes the "purging" of many things.
Look forward to crossing paths in the future. We will be at Hersey looking over possible floor plans in DPs and attending a number of the seminars, but will not be able to spend time in Goshen at the Rally. Good luck with your launch!

We are on the same timeline as you. Our plans are to move back into our 5th wheel early next Spring. John will retire from his job in May and we will establish residency somewhere other than Ca. I sure hope this is our last summer in the heat of the Sacramento valley.
This will be our second time living fulltime in the RV. Best of luck getting everything in order; time if flying and I can't believe we are finally going to be free of the work world in less than a year.
I started a blog, mainly to document our preparations and then to keep our family up to date on our travels.

Thanks for all the support! Sure seems like things have mysteriously reproduced in our closets. Purging and repairing are our major forms of activities these days. Making home repairs is something that I will NOT MISS! Hopefully any repairing on our Fifthwheel won't be as demanding. Looking forward to meeting you all at the Rally or on the road!
