Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

foreigners wanting to buy an RV in USA - help needed

Dear all,

My wife and I are intending to buy a MH and the question has come up of State Residence and the process of license, registration and insurance
We are French and live in France but we are accustomed to rent each year a RV in USA for at least one month. We have been doing that the last 14 years.
As in a few month we will become "young" retirees we would like to buy a used RV and spend 3 to 6 months (maybe more) per year in USA, hitting the roads. We also intend to tow a small vehicle.

So I guess we need to select a home base somewhere in USA in order to have the vehicle licensing and registration there.

I'm wondering if it would be possible to buy a MH in one State, pay the sales taxes in another one (a State that is most beneficial for us) and have the vehicle licensing and registration in that State.

Other related questions :

- do we need an american driver's license or would our international driver's license be ok ?

- how to do the registration

- what about insurance

- should we ask a lawyer to help us ; also a technician to inspect the RV we intend to buy

If anybody knows a provider/company that could help foreigners to buy an RV and have all the processes done that would be wonderful :)

Any other advises would be very appreciated.
Thank you in advance
Best
Jacky

Go over to the Escapees forum, www.rvnetwork.com, and join and post this question. There are several people from England and Australia on the Escapees forum and can help you with the process.
