Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Old propane in tank

I have an issue with my 1993 Norcold refrigerator. On AC it works fine. On GAS too, starts any time right up but the flame is very turbulent. I cleaned the burner, lots of rust and ordered a new Orifice. I checked gas pressure (12 water column). The electronic keeps the flame on and the fridge is sure cold. Can it be the gas regulator at the tank? But the stove burns perfect. The propane in the tank is about 10 years old, is there something like "old gas" that can course this turbulent flame? (tank is still 1/2 full)

Any tips are appreciated.

Propane is propane (C3/H8) Age does not hurt it at all. If your pressure is constant at 12 in water column when in use, you should be good to go. I don't understand what you are calling turbulence. The flame should be rather small and constant. Do you have a condenser fan in use? Anything change when the door is closed and viewed thrugh the veiwport?

if the gas line is ported vertical you might have oil in the line which causes an unstable flame.....requires a gas tech. to resolve the problem.

Ok, that is kind of good new. The flame is not constant more busting (little bangs) mostly not engough too go out. You can see it through the spy hole it is not a constant flame. No mater if the door is open or close. My 3 burner The stove has a constant burning flame. If it is not the propane it self and not outside air blowing in, mh, I have no idea.

Remove the gas line coming from the lowest point on the fridge....should be outside underneath....open it and oil will come out

Lucky Mike was OH-SO-RIGHT. I opened the gas line at the propane tank regulator value and some brownish fluid come out. The flame is now stable and has the right blue color. Would some one look at the flame and spark sensor if it need adjustment.

Thanks
