Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
We have a Class A 40' and while DH's feet reach the pedals (barely) mine do not.... We have a Freightliner chassis and the pedals are not like regular auto pedals. They push down from the toe area while the heel of our feet stay at the base of the pedal.... I guess it's the same kind that buses have. Anyway, I have searched far and wide for pedal extenders without any luck for this type. I have found ones for cars and disabled folks , but none that just attach to extend 2-3 inches for RV's. Seems most people are using blocks of wood which doesn't sound safe to me. Seat is all the way forward, but we have been cautioned about being too close to the steering wheel in case of air bag deployment.
Anyone else out there having this type of issue and if so...what's your solution?
How hard would it be to add a piece of rubber to the existing pedal and add a few inches of height? Clean the surface of the existing pedal, add some Velcro strips to the surface, then stick your own custom made risers to the pedal....when the day comes to sell or for any other reason simply remove them...
So we are driving down the road today and I yell at Gene to STOP..... there was a piece of tire on the side of the road...laying perfectly flat about 3 feet long. I tell Gene to "Go get that piece of rubber"....he looked at me like I was nuts. I explained that I was going to try and cut several pieces to size and using Shoe Goo (best adhesive around for rubber) apply that as a riser for the gas pedal in the motorhome.
He complied...went out...crossed the road and picked it up and threw it in the trunk...all the while mumbling that he was still gonna call Freightliner in the morning to see if they have a "real" pedal extention.
