Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Greetings from Florida!

I’m new here, having been a lurker for one whole day!  My husband and I are in the research stage and are leaning toward a Class A.  There are just SO many choices that it is overwhelming.

When I was a kid, my parents would take us camping.  Mom and Dad and 6 kids in a pop up was not fun, and I said I would NEVER camp again.  I think I must have gone mad, but here I am all these years later considering buying a motorhome.  It must be a mid-life crisis or something.  biggrin

What brought us to this point is wanting to have a vacation cabin, but being unable to decide WHERE that cabin should be.  We realized that having a home on wheels allows us to change the location of our “cabin” as often as we want.

It has been a whirlwind decision, and that makes me a little nervous, but I have seen quite a few people describe a similar sudden jump into RV ownership and even fulltiming, so that gives me a little comfort that I am not truly insane, or at least I am not alone.

Thank you all for your previous posts, which will help us wade through all the decisions we have to make.

You're not mad, insane or anything close to it. You have just joined a great group of people that share your "dream". We, too, are in the research phase. We'll also agree with you that the camping in small spaces (read REALLY small as in tents, pop-ups etc) can become challenging after experiencing larger RV's. We think we'll likely purchase a fifth wheel rig but have not ruled out a Motorhome.... yet.

Welcome aboard!smile

Welcome Deanna and Mike

Lots of friendly folks here on this forum to help you. Do a search for the topics you're looking for and if you can't find the answers, ask.

Good Luck,

Deanna,

Welcome to the RV Dreams forums.  Since you are even new to "lurking," allow me to tell you that this is a good site on which to do research.  There are a lot of folks here with knowledge about almost every kind of RV, plus they are friendly, helpful, and encouraging.  So, feel free to ask any questions on RV's or the RV'ing lifestyle.  There are no dumb questions except those that don't get asked and thus cost you financially or in time should you not ask it.

Generally, if one is moving fairly often, the motorhomes are a little more convenient than towables, although a number of us don't have an issue with the towables.  However, based on your username, I might mention that a fifth wheel might be easier to modify to accommodate a sewing center.  You'll have a number of things to consider, though, so just don't get into a big hurry with your decision.  Spend lots of time at RV shows or in different units at RV dealerships to get a feel of what it would take to prepare meals, prepare in the mornings, and generally just live life in a smaller space.

Good luck with your research and planning, and above all, make the experience fun.

Terry
