Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

We're ready to go full time on planning to full time!

I have been somewhat lurking here in research mode for some time now and since we have made our decision I figured it's time I became a member!

We attended the Hershey RV show 2 years ago and  have been contemplating our plan for retirement ever since.  Considering the pros and cons of relocating to a warmer and less expensive area, drastic downsize in the area we are in and some combination of snowbird to full time rv.  It's been all over the place but we keep coming back to full timing. So recently we started looking in to what we want and need from an RV.

it didn't take long to decide that 5th wheel would fit best for us! as I peruse these boards for info my husband does research on best vehicle, towing capacities, all the guy stuff, I would call it.

We have been empty nesters for about 5 years but we are still a few years away from being able to collect SS. So as long as hubby can grin and bear it at work we will have at least 3 years to prepare. We have been living in much too large of a house for two people and first on our to do list is to start sprucing it up to get it on the market!

In the meantime we spend most of our non working hours researching, reading forums, and full timers blogs to get all the info we need! I had a brief moment this morning thinking I'd have to part with my Kitchen Aid stand mixer until I did a search and read that Lots of people bring it along! Lol. it's great to have such experienced veterans to learn from!

Thanks for being here!

Bonnie (Rex's better half)

Well we have already moved on to looking at trucks and the purging the junk from the house! Big community yard sale tomorrow so we figured it was a good opportunity.

Bonnie and Rex,

Welcome to the RV Dreams forums.  This is an excellent site for research because the folks here are really knowledgeable.

Don't get in too big of a hurry in purchasing a truck.  A wise course is to determine what you want in a fifth wheel first and then take the weight information about that trailer and let that help you make a decision on the best truck to safely tow and handle that size of a trailer.  Finding a good deal on a truck that is too small will limit the size of fifth wheel that you could choose for this lifestyle.

Have fun in the research and planning.

Terry

Thank you for the welcomes!
And no worries on ending up with not enough truck Terry.....Rex is big on overkill! the truck we were looking into was an f-450 drw diesel. it was a good deal but we will likely look around some since we aren't really pushed for time.
and we plan to look at a few models in the 36' range.
we are looking at build quality on some of our favorites. Cant wait to see them at Hershey show!
