Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
We are Rick and Betsy and we have been traveling in our RV for 7 years mostly part-time and workamping each trip. We made the plunge to go full-time in March 2013. We still have a house which at this point can't be sold (long story, don't want to get into it) but it is almost completely unfurnished (just enough furniture so we could sleep there if we want) so our 40 foot 5th wheel is our home on wheels. We have workamped in Southwestern Colorado, Maine, Kentucky, NC and worked at Dollywood for 3 years in Pigeon Forge, TN . We have decided we really prefer workamping to working at an amusement park. We usually work for our site and perks rather than a stipend. At some point we would like to travel out west to workamp but at this point we are limiting ourselves to the East Coast and up to the Mississippi River. We love being full-timers and can't imagine ever living in a huge house again. I especially like the fact it only takes a couple of hours or less to clean the camper as opposed to more than a day to thoroughly clean my house.
To keep ourselves from getting bored with each other, we try to get to know the area we are camping in. Plus I quilt and always have my sewing machine and quilting projects with us. Rick loves to look for rocks, gemstones etc especially with our younger son. He cuts, polishes and makes jewelry out of some. He also makes "fun" jewelry that he sells to anyone who would like to buy. We both are avid readers and our Kindle or IPAD are always with us ready to provide us with reading pleasure. Rick also loves to fish and if there is a place to fish where we camp, he has a line in the water.
Would love to correspond with anyone who loves this way of life and may have some insight into this lifestyle.
In this forum you'll find full-timers, part-timers and wanna-be people, all "dreamers". We all learn from each other and this is the friendliest place to share from woes to wows. Welcome!
You will find RV Dreams to be a good source of information because the folks here have knowledge of just about every style of RV that there is. The "sewing" culture is also here as well. My wife, Jo, even built her own sewing center with the help of our youngest son, and it sits in back of our fifth wheel.
So, ask away on the questions. Folks here are ready to help.
Terry

So nice to have you with us. It's great you've been doing this so long ...can't wait to hear more about your work kamping experiences since your veterans and that is something Lee and I are very interested in.
Welcome to a great site for all of us "dreamers. The great thing about our chosen lifestyle is that it is always evolving and we can make it what we want of it and also share and help others along the way.
Wishing you many safe travels down the highway of life!
