Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

We are prepping for our FIRST trip to Disney Wilderness Resort July 1st. Instead of renting golf carts we purchased bikes. The grandson's bikes will fit in the back of the truck but we need to find a way to haul ours. Any recommendations on bike racks? Are the ladder racks sturdy?

Does your trailer have a receiver hitch?  If so, Camping World has a two bike rack for under $200 that fits into the receivers.  If you don't have a receiver hitch, it will also attach to a square bumper.

We don't have a hitch on the trailer. Our sales rep suggested a ladder rack?

(1)Add an appropriate hitch receiver on the rear.
(2)Insert hitch mounted bike rack.
Have to watch what you add on the rear bumpers of most RV trailers. I have one at my shop right now that had a bike rack and a spare tire bracket........Bumper tore out of the mounting bolt holes. Most of those rear bumpers are meant to hold the "Stinky Slinky" and that's about it.

I just got back for a 1500 mile trip using this bike rack www.campingworld.com/shopping/item/ladder-mount-bike-rack/42248. I did use some additional zip strips to keep them from moving any. I also used zip strips to keep the tires from turning.

We had the rack that mounted to the ladder on our previous TT. Depending on where your ladder is positioned it can be very problematic, our bikes actually stuck out beyond the edge of the RV. We didn't like that and we didn't like the fact that it was then very difficult to get on the roof without taking the bikes off the rack. At that time we were also carrying a Porta Bote on the RV roof and if we wanted to boat, but not bike, it was a hassle.

We now have a Swagman installed on the 5th wheel hitch receiver, one of the ones they manufacture specifically for RV use. As we were doing our research we discovered there were many hitch mounted racks not recommended for RV / Trailers, so we were pretty picky about the one we wanted, ordered from eTrailer.com

I just used this Direct Aftermarket bike mount for a 60-mile trip carrying a 2019 Kawasaki Ninja 400 that weighs about 400 lbs. It worked great. This rack was fairly light but sturdy and I could easily install it. It has an anti-wobble locking device, which makes me feel completely safe using it, and I can enjoy riding wherever I go.
