Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
It took a long time but in clearing out more of the garage and office today, he wasn't hesitant at all in throwing things his old computers and parts away / putting t hem in the recycle pile. After the first purging (to ready the house for the market), there were still a lot of things he put on the side because he just couldn't part with them; he was sure there'd be a use somewhere.
Today, as I said he wasn't hesitant at all and got rid of a LOT. He said it's because reality just hit him -- that there is a good chance we will be closing on our house in 2 weeks from today and living in our very small space a few days after that, and there's no way we could keep all that stuff.
Mitch - I'm very proud of you! I know how hard it is!

And I say...
(if you didn't hear the WHOLE story...), ...our lawyer called Wednesday night, and we casually asked if we could get a 4 day extension, from June 5th, to June 9th, so we'd have another weekend to clean out.
and the next morning they called back and said the buyers wanted to close MAY 29th, instead of June 5th.
YOU SHOULD have seen the look of utter PANIC on cheryl's face. like SHEER TERROR!
And thus the truth hit us both like a few tons of bricks.... We're really doing this...
so she overcame some serious nerves too

We accepted one of two offers that came in with closing for June 11. When Lindy's mom was in the hospital after her stroke on Easter the buyer's asked if we could close before the end of May, to get a better rate. We scrambled, accomplished and closed May 30. Moved trailer to her mother's house for a few days. We had been sleeping in it since Memorial Day. We left her mother's place and headed for Niagara Falls going north through Ontario around the Great Lakes. It still seems like a vacation but it isn't! We want to be near Bradford, Pa for the 17-18 of June to meet up with our daughter who is working there temporarily. Then we head back to Minnesota for a family reunion and then to settle her mom's estate. Then it will probably feel like we are full time rvers?
Good luck on your house sale. Its great to be houseless, but not homeless. I saw your rig on your blog, looks great. Hope you can get in it permanently soon.

WTG Mitch! I've been doing the same. I hauled 503 pounds of some of my best junk to our local landfill today! I guess I've been somewhat of a hoarder. I actually have shocked myself as I see some of the stuff I have saved. They say that if you haven't touched it in a year you should get rid of it. Hell, some of this stuff I haven't touched in 30 years! LOL!
Getting rid of our stuff was really hard. I agree if you don't use it in a year get rid of it.
It's hard to even imagine having as much as we had or even living in a bigger place.
Really like living in the smaller space and waking up in other places.
Good luck on the sale ours sold so fast 11/20/12 and every one said with the economy
like it is it won't sale. It did in a matter of weeks. Made us feel like we where supposed to
do this full time.
Congratulation to ya'all as i live in TN. now!!! Cheryl; The magic day is finally materializing and the "scary...exciting..nerve wracking.. jittery feelings of creating a new life are with you!!!
