Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
So excited to announce our latest little project - our new mobile app: US Public Lands
It overlays BLM, Forest Service, NPS and other public land boundary maps. Helping you utilize US national resources, and helping you find sweet boondocking locations!
Read more about the app, including the amusing story behind it from our first weeks on the road.
(Just released today for iPhone & iPad - Android version already in production!)
It looks like a great tool for our future boondocking stays. Will definitely add it to our arsenal as the time draws near.... guess we'll have to finally upgrade to smartphones.
Just purchased. I'll give it a test run here in the next few hours. Sounds like a money saver for sure.
We have started using my wife's iPad for our navigation. It is easier with less gotchas than our GPS. It's great to have another tool to add to the iPad.
By the way, how can anyone do anything for $1.99 in this day and age. What a bargain.

Thanks :) It's all about volume in the app world (so spread the word :) ). The ecosystem has really changed the perceived value of software. In my beginning days as a developer 20 some years ago, something like this would have easily sold for $15-20. But then again, the potential customer base was much smaller.

Yep - me too. DH has a smartphone; I've been refusing all this time as I like having a phone that is just that - receives and answers calls. But being that we'll need to have full time connectivity, we'll need 2 data plans and thus I'll need to migrate to a smartphone as well.
Great app! Is this data also available on RVillage?

Nope.. they have a campground database and focus on the social side of RVing... and this app is a map overlay of public land boundaries (and we're just advisors to RVillage, not the developers or owners).

Love hearing the story of how it came to be, we had a similar experience in WA state on our first ever stay on BLM land:) Now, just wishing the app was available for Android devices.
