Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
We are Tom and Mary Ann, early 50's couple from Massachusetts. We are looking forward to fulltiming in the spring of 2016. I bet that will be here before we know it! We don't currently have a fulltiming RV but enjoy our Coleman popup. We have a few motorhome floorplans picked out so we should be ready when the time comes to buy, hopefully by next summer.
We have just started thinning out our belongings, selling on eBay and Craigslist. We have gone through a few closets, separating items into tag sale, keep, throw away. Hopefully, we can concentrate on more of that this summer as well as doing some work on the house to get it ready for rental or sale.
We will be attending the Spring Rally in a couple weeks and really look forward to meeting others like us as well as folks already in the lifestyle. We have lots to learn and look forward to finding out about others experience.
Welcome Tom & Mare, We have been on here about a little over a year. We have/and continue to learn so much. Until a couple of years ago, we camped with our kids in a Coleman pop-up too. Now that they are all out of college, we sold our business and are getting ready to put the ranch up for sale in May. We just bought our Montana 3582 and a bigger truck.
Good for you starting the purging now. My husband is a bit of a pack rat and has been trying to sell stuff at a local flea market. Bless him, but at this rate it would take YEARS to sell it all. I'd rather opt for getting a dumpster and taking it all to goodwill and be done with it in a week! As it is, I told him we'll have to get a storage locker so I can start moving out all this for sale "stuff" so we can list the house.
Welcome Tom & Mare! Good for you already downsizing and thinning out! We purged the clutter and personal items last summer and put the house on the market. It was a slow fall/winter with all the weather but things really picked up this spring. We have a contract on the house and are working to get rid of the rest of the stuff. I haven't tried eBay but I'm loving Craigslist. So far everything I've listed - both for sale and free have been gone in a day- I perfer this much better than a yard sale! Already have Purple Heart signed up for an extra large load of donations week after next and that will be the last of it. Enjoy the rally, we'll be at the fall rally but hope to see you somewhere on the road!
Welcome Tom and Mare! Sounds like you've got a great start on the preparation and I'm sure the rally will be wonderful. We're excited to have a target date of Spring 2015 - as soon as the youngest graduates and the house is sold .
This is a great place to find lots of answers from experienced and caring folks. Keep us posted on your progress!
Welcome Tom & Mare, we to will be at the spring rally. An 2016 will come fast. Out house will go on the market Monday, an we have be selling & down sizing for about 3 months. Funny you keep things over the years for the kids an when the time comes you find out they don't want it. (Who figures). See you both at the rally
Kenny & frances
Welcome Tom and Mare, We are also from Ma. little older but are also starting the process to be full timing in 18-24 months
You have come to the right place. I have learned so much since i have joined this group and it has help me feel much better about our future advanture out into the unknown world of full timing.
Enjoy the process!!! The purg does seem to take for ever, with lot's of tears from my wife. as i keep telling her she can't buy anything that she can not get into a 40' trailer.

We intend on hitting the road Dec. '15 and started our "purging" about three years ago. Probably way too early; however, it was simply due to our circumstances which involved moving from Arizona to DC, and then selling our house two years later (last summer). However, we still have to purge two-bedrooms, living room and our dining room furniture, which we need between now and Dec. '15, so I suspect that this furniture will hit Craigslist in September '15. If it doesn't sell, it will be donated to the Salvation Army or our children. Everything else will come with us in the RV ...
We are looking forward to fulltiming in the spring of 2016.

Hi Tom and Mare! How Cool! We are also looking to head out late spring of 2016 and are attending the rally too in a few weeks. Maybe we can connect with you there. I'm excited someone else is going around the same time frame as us! Do you have a spot at plantation? Take care,
Marianne and Barry from PA.
