Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
it's less than a year old and this has been happening on and off this month. the manual says it's an electrical problem, we cannot get anyone to answer at whirlpool, in fact every time we call we are put on hold with muzak for ten or more minutes and then the line goes dead. awesome customer service, huh?!
so i'm hoping someone here knows about these units and could help us decide if we can manage it ourselves before we call in a service person.
I cant remember where we bought it, it was delivered to the rv dealership who installed it and I just lost track of if we got a receipt or not, though we did get the manual.
We had that on our Whirlpool washer and found out it required a new circuit board that cost as much as a new washer. Ours lasted 3 years before we discarded and replaced it. Sorry i couldn"t give you a more positive answer

When we bought our Whirlpool washer and dryer I thought they were still made in America but found out that they are built in China. I was told the boards weren't repairable , they had to be replaced.

if you are under 1 year you can call any whirpool servicer to come out .I would suggest A&E if they are listed in your area(owned by whirlpool)or a maytag agent.....warranty can be run by serial number if proof of purchase is not available.
changing the board yourself if a rough job if you are not familiar with the hidden screws and clips that hold the front panel on.

We've also had some problems with our Whirlpool, but I suspect our problem was with having an electrical supply that is not "clean." A Progressive Industries power protection unit is soon to be purchased and installed.
Try calling Sears as they claim to work on any brand.

The wife loves the washer and loves me even more as I'm her service man!!!
I think the version in our 5th wheel is the model before yours (bought in 2007) as it doesn't have a display to show an error code. My model is LHW0050PQ.
The recurring problem has been it doesn't complete the spin cycle and the clothes are either wet or the tub is full of water and the lights are flashing on front controls. I've had it apart more times than I have fingers to count. Each time I would pop the top off (there were a couple of screws at the back (those screws are no longer there on mine) that held the top on, then the top would slide forward/rotate up from the back and lift off). I'd then unplug and replug the connectors on the controller board (located on the right side of the washer under the top cover). That fixed the problem execpt for the last time it refused to work correctly. The fix that time was to pull the unit all the way out and take off the back panel so I could unplug and replug the wiring to the motor and the motor control board. The motor control board and wiring are in the lower left corner at the back of the unit. That fixed it and it hasn't failed for many months since. My fingers are still crossed. Since my unit is likely the prior model to yours so it may be slightly different than yours. I was able to download the service manual for my model from somewhere after a google search on the model number, and I bought a replacement control board from repairclinic.com as well. Think it was about $90 so now I have a spare, or maybe the old one really was busted, I've not put it back in to really check it.
As I said, the wife loves it and she runs it about 5 times a week or more.
I lied. There was one other time I couldn't fix it by unplugging and replugging the wires on the controller board. It turned out the circuit breaker for the washer circuit was just a little flakey. I swapped power cords with the dryer outlet and the washer started working correctly again. Now I reset the washer and dryer breakers and try the wash cycle again before doing anything else.
Kind of along the lines of Terry and Jo's comment above.
thanks folks!
mike was right, even without a receipt they know by the serial number that it's still under warranty.
whew!
dh finally got through at 7am and a service person will call hopefully tomorrow.
since we are now way out in the sticks at an oil field gate, dh or I will have to meet him and lead him back to here.
good thing is I have a new package of shoe covers due in at the post office Friday which I will hand to the service person to cover his shoes when he enters my rig.
bad thing is I can't hang the unfinished and soaking wet laundry in the machine outside as it's crazy windy and dusty.
i'm going to have a lot of laundry to catch up on!
When your washer doesn't complete the spin cycle and the clothes are either wet or the tub is full of water, next time this happens look for the pump clean out if it has one, if not you may have to pull the pump apart or the drain hose and clean it out, you would not believe what gets in there. I have 17 Speed Queen Horizon front load washers, I have to clean the pumps, sometimes once a week, I find money, fish weights, hair pins, bra wire, lint, little toys, metal pieces, drill bits, screws, string, rugs are the worst (little strings) everywhere. The two main reasons there is water in the washer is the electric pump is plugged or too much soap. If you do have too much soap in the washer after it has stop put a cap of softener in the load and start it again, the softener will take the soap down fast. About 99% of the time this works for me. I'm here to also help.
Your humble service repair man.

Wow Lonnie, thanks!
we use a thimble of HE detergent and white vinegar as softener. I've been able to restart and use the machine the past few days and we have the service person coming on Thursday, so I hope this will be resolved and we can move onto the next problem.
Interesting. We were just in a campground with beautiful front loader Whirlpool washers and dryers. There were signs posted to way stuff the washing machines or they would go off balance or not spin or drain. These were new machines and the campground was well aware of the issue. I don't l Ike mixing lights with darks so guess what? I need to learn and read the signs in EVERY laundry room!
Now I understand why so many want their own washers in their rigs! Did meet some great folks tho, which is why I enjoy park laundries!

edit; replaced still with stuff

Your very welcome, if you have any other problems with your washer or dryer just give me a holler, I have been working on these machines for over 23 years, it is getting kinda old for me. Ok time to retire just say the word.
