Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Do you even wonder what happens to those that were active members and then just disappear? I used to read and post occasionally, but never gave it much thought as to where an active member went and why when they no longer were posting. Then, it happened to me! I became a non-active member (still a member, but no longer actively on here) due to having to sell my travel trailer because my marriage ended. I even stopped checking in here because it was hard to see happy rv'ers planning their trips, taking their trips, posting about a life I had so enjoyed, albeit for such a short time. It had been a dream in the making for a long while, so giving it up was very hard, indeed. I got to live it for two years, however and it was a joy! I can jokingly say that giving up the RV lifestyle was harder than giving up my marriage and probably mean it! It was an addictive, fun, adventurous lifestyle while it lasted!
Life got in the way and my former husband had personal issues that helped cause the end of a 14 year union (it didn't happen overnight), but not the end of the RV dream. I am biding my time, tucking that dream away and keeping it safe for a while down the road when I can figure out a way to travel and support myself. Plus, now I have to learn all of the things one needs to do with a travel trailer (or perhaps a small motorhome) to keep them maintained. He did all that while I did inside maintenance and housekeeping, cooking, etc. But I know that there are women out there alone that do live the RV lifestyle and enjoy it immensely, so I hope I can become one of you before too many years go by. Any pointers, suggestions or help will be greatly appreciated! In the meantime, I will begin reading (and sometimes posting) here again, and not feel jealous or envious of your experiences and fun, but just live vicariously through y'all if you don't mind.
And if I note that someone has been on here for a while and suddenly disappears, I will always suspect that THEY, too, have a story, a reason they have had to give up the RV lifestyle for a while. Hopefully they can one day down the road begin Living the Dream again, like I plan to do. It's a hard one to give up, for sure! Happy journeys, y'all!

I'd say to not give up on the dream. There are a number of singles out there that do RV'ing. I used to follow a number of blogs, one of which was a young lady (young compared to me) that wasn't full-timing, but was still enjoying the RV lifestyle. I got to where I didn't have the time to follow all those blogs, so I don't know for sure what she is doing now. However, she is still blogging, and it appears that she might be in Mexico as of her last post. You might check her out to see if she can help you revive the spirit.
Thanks! I remember you two. I read a lot of your posts. I am not giving up and not quite ready to try it on my own yet (a matter of finances as I cannot afford to do it on Social Security alone right now) but someday I will do it again! It's too good of a dream to permanently give up. Good to see both of your faces again!

I have a suggestion for a book. It can at least get you started. I am currently reading it now. The Idiot's Guide to RVing. Also maybe you can look up on Amazon or Barnes and Noble for other books on RVs and keeping them maintained. Also maybe check out an RV supply store and talk to the store associates for info and books.
Raven, Joe, thanks for your suggestions and encouragement. I WILL get back out there, on my own, when the time is right. Once I am in the position to buy an rv again, my enthusiasm will cause me to learn all I can to handle it on my own. Right now...it remains a dream, and probably a pretty far away one. I am not discouraged, however. At 64, I am young enough to still live the dream.
