Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

2. Ready for the looney bin.

These are not mutually exclusive.

OK, in that case if you fall victim to both options simultaneously, then once we hit the road we'll keep our eyes peeled for a 2004 Volvo 780 625 HP Cummins 13 speed with a 2014 Trilogy 3650RE in tow and turn in at nearest Police station and let them know a deranged ex-military funny farm candidate is on the loose in their neighborhood....  and put in a call to Red to warn him to hidebiggrinbiggrinbiggrin

Bill, Bill, Bill, I don't make mistakes. I have had calculations that didn't quite work out, and situational changes that were unexpected but, I've never made a mistake. Except for that one time... Truth is that I have so much tied up in this if I have made a mistake I'll never admit it. I'll just think of stories to justify my actions. Dang, I shoulda been a politician!

Whoo Hoo!! Glad to hear your baby is home! Sorry to know it will be parked there for soooo long, once we had the rig on the driveway and started moving things into it, finishing our purging done and getting more house prep work done to get the house on the market did get more painful for us, we just wanted to be GONE.

Well I'm glad that's done! Last night I put a chair, one with the storage in the seat, in the middle of the living area to climb on so I could touch one of the ceiling fans. We are still trying to figure out the switches and gadgets. Everything is so new. A ceiling fan with no dust on the blades. I had to get close.

Later the DW was using the remote to put in the awnings and slides. Some of you see this coming, don't you? C-R-A-C-K wtf... No it was more like WTF. loud enough so the neighbors could hear it, a block away. At least it seemed that way. Open the slides back up. Poopschtick. We didn't need that chair anyway! I think I can fix it. Boy do I feel stupid. Let's see, I left the chair in the middle do the floor but, she was running the remote. It was her birthday... Her fault or mine. I'll take this one. Blame, the key to a long marriage. You gotta love a new RV and a sharp learning curve.

LOL, many of us have been there with things damaged due to moving the slides in or out, it's a really fast learning curve. Our first slide issue came before Dale even got the rig home, left the bathroom door open, heard that cracking sound, was pretty easy to fix and no long term damage but was a quick lesson.

We've actually had more issues when things shift while in transit and we put the slides out at our next destination. We learned very quickly to put the slides out slowly and check while that's in process. We've also learned to stow things a little better before moving on.

I am sure Mark has already picked out some items his wife won't part with for "testing" the slides.

Yeppers.  I did similarly, only in our case it was a step stool that was between the slide and the peninsula counter.  Had to have the dealership fix that boo-boo because it knocked the counter loose.  Needless the say, that step stool seldom makes it into the coach without being taken back out immediately after using it.  And yes, the step stool still works just fine.

Terry - our step stool is still in the DRV, remember Jo and I are about the same height so neither of us can give that essentil step up!! Ours is a foldable 2 step that stays behind the loveseat except when in use inside. Works great!! Of course, we also have the 3 step in the back of the truck, another 2 step foldable for the art show booth in the truck, plus our collapsible ladder in the basement. Since we're both vertically challenged, we need all the help we can get!!

It's all a learning curve and we're still learning even after 7 months full time with 7K miles since leaving the "home" driveway. I won't jinx us by saying nothing has been damaged in the last 4 months of moving.

Mark S - another caution, if you have a slide kitchen and you have a kitchen rug that you want to keep usable, make sure you remove the rug before bringing in the kitchen slide!! I think we left a rug in a dumpster somewhere in Wyoming as a "lesson learned".

The illustrative point of this, thanks Mark for that demonstration, is that rigs with hydraulic slides, or electric motors for that matter, are very strong.  Easy to say, ya gotta do a double visual check before pushing those buttons.  We all learn.  Bet it won’t happen again.

Remote controls are one of those nice features that we do not have on our rig and debated adding when they came out as an after market option. We decided we liked having one person inside operating the buttons and watching / listening and the other outside watching / listening just to make sure everything was operating correctly. Your mistake has reconfirmed we do not want a remote for the slides. Thanks for posting Mark!

Rick and Janice have a good point.  Our Mobile Suites did come with a remote control for the slides and hydraulic jacks.  I used it once and I've not used it since.  The biggest reason for not using it again is because it was programmed to operate each slide in sequence and done without stopping.  I prefer to operate one slide at a time and double check each and every one before it comes in or out.

The local po-po was by today to do my vin verification. I was planning on have him do the verification and be on his way. Instead I had to put all the slides out and give him a tour. He is an RVer too. He has a class A and plans to tour when he retires. He is pretty sure his wife won't go for the full time thing. About two hours to do a ten minute job.

Mark,

I even tried "searching" on Photobucket and couldn't find your photos.  I even used "Trilogy" and got lots of pages of hockey players, fantasy stuff, and other weird photos.  Sadly, I'm not sure I'll ever be able to "unsee" what I saw.

It's all your fault, Man!!!!!

(Seriously, when you have your picture opened in Photobucket, left click in the "IMG file" linky thing.  You should see a short message that says, "Copied" before it goes away.  Then, just "paste" that into the body of the message area of the forum comment field.  That should put the photo into the area when you use the "Show Preview" button below the message area.  If the photo is too big, it will create problems with the forum.  If that happens, you'll probably need to delete it from Photobucket and then resize your photo before posting it again to Photobucket.

More instructions below that are based on Photobucket.

Guidelines Regarding Embedding Photos into Forum Posts

Methinks the aerodynamics might be a bit much for that to pull the coach.  I just can't really see you "getting un-tracked."

I need to go find those pictures that I found on the internet where an SUV is rigged up to tow a fifth wheel.

Great taste Mark!

Did you find the screw to lock the refrigerator doors??? Top bin in freezer door. Get a strong bungee the right length to go from each door on either side of the desk drawer - or you'll have plenty of time to install bigger magnets or a latch. If your wife loads the lower drawer with pots and pans and more pots and pans (because she can!) bungee those drawers together vertically. Reinforce the silverware drawer on the bottom so silverware doesn't slip under the dividers.

Be sure to move the collapsible dog crate/box/pen/thingie to one side as you bring in the slide then to the other because it really is "collapsible" and then you have to hold it together with duct tape until you collapse it again between the slides coming in....then you have to get a new one! Ask me how I know.

Sherry

Well, with that last tow vehicle shown, would that be "wine" or "whine?"  Get things in the wrong places and break things, it will quickly become "whine."
