Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Since I started participating in RV Dreams there have been many who have posted and are no longer heard from. If they are still checking in but not posting just wanted to let them know they are missed. Hope it just means you are on the road and enjoying your rv time. I see where Snowgypsy is not going to post anymore. I'd like her to know her input will be missed and I'd like to stay in touch. She was wonderful support in November and December when our family lost two persons to tragedy.
To see if someone is checking in, just click on their name and it will take you to their information including "Last Access", which tells you their last time on the forum. I hear that some show up in the chatroom that no longer post, but I am not a chatroom type.

Reading her last post, she said she was offended by another member in the thread, although I could not see where she took offense. She also noted that this is the second RV forum that she has resigned from.
Two forums? Maybe she was a little too this skinned for a public forum? Just sayin.
Also, many folks join an RV board and want information to pursue the dream. and post frequently. Things then change; circumstances, family issues, change of mind or simply a loss of interest, so they stop posting.
Membership and activity is constantly fluctuating.

I deleted the offending comments. Plus, I think that Cathy has experienced enough "hard times" that I doubt that she has "thin skin." She was "offended" by someone that was new to the RV Dreams forums, but was also a member of another forum. I know that the forum where both are/were members tolerates comments that doesn't "cut the mustard" here. Besides not allowing discussions of religion and politics, we also don't care for attacks, especially for those cases where the comments didn't really relate to the topic for which the tread was started.

Good work Terry. I had noticed that the tone of the comment you deleted was a little too personal for my taste. I've been in other non-rv forums where the atmosphere deteriorated to a virtual fistfight. I'm glad this forum is friendly and non-judgmental. Some of us may have out-of-left-field humor or be super opinionated but it's sure nice to be able to express freely whatever pops into our brains.
I visit a bunch of RV related sites and there isn't another one like RV Dreams! Terry & Howard do an awesome job moderating (I think Terry does most of the work..LOL) the site! The moderators on RV dreams don't seem to let their personal views or beliefs interfere with "fair moderation." Many of the other sites I visit, the moderators have been biased or just don't do a good job making it a pleasant place to post. I have started a few topics on RV dreams that on any other site would have caused quite a ruckus. I do appreciate everyone on this site and although we may not always agree, I do value your input and I am thankful that you took the time out of your day to help, critique, encourage, or support me on my road to full-time RVing.
See y'all on the road soon...I hope!!
I hope all the MIA's will return to RV Dreams...especially miss Fred & Jo Wishnie!!

Thanks for the information and even handed moderation.
I must have missed the offending post. It all makes a lot more sense now.

Too bad. Snow Gypsy seemed like a tough, knowledgeable, highly opinionated woman. Sorry to see her go, so soon after I arrived.
Personally, I'd never let an offensive comment drive me away from any medium that held an interest for me. My policy is to simply ignore the offending poster, and get on with whatever it is that I have to say.
I to like hearing from Snow Gypsy, lots of good feed back, real a shame some people have to make things personal instead of just being helpful and appreciating everybodys different experiances in life. Hopefully we will run into them some day on the road

When we first started fulltiming (starting year 5 on Feb 2) or were makes plans, I would check in and post more. I often remarked how this forum is different. I'd been blasted of others, but never here.
However, as time has moved on, we are simply living the fulltime life and I don't feel the need for the communication of others as I did. Guess it's like when we lived in a stix n brix, I did not feel the need to be on a forum for other like minded people. Also, I've kept a blog. Don't even feel the need to post of it like I used to. Life changes!
But I do occasionally drop in and might leave a comment or two. Wishing each of you the best!
