Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Simple Answer?

In another thread here recently, Lucky Mike made a reference to there being a "simple answer".  Well,  I thought, "Oh, yeah, simple answer, not."  So, I thought, with the pearls of wisdom that Lucky Mike shares, maybe there is something to this.  After a few days and continuing to read posts from others, I think there is a "simple answer" BUT you have to break down the steps to your dream and tackle one at a time.  It is so easy to get overwhelmed because the dream usually has several elements so if one concentrates mostly on just one element at a time, there probably is a "simple answer" just more than one of them.  I do think that this is an issue with so many people anymore when they are in a "tizzy" and they just spin in a circle and this is across the board in life in general.  Also, I have found that setting small goals that you know you can accomplish so that you are moving forward is a morale booster and can keep you going so, on that note, I need to get out the ladder...........

Cathy you are absolutely right. When changing to this life style there are many steps to reach the FT goal.

This was our progression.

1. Having the dream. It's been ours for a long time.

2. Having or gaining the courage to leave a comfortable life style.

3. Making a budget you can live with.

4. Those last medicals while on good insurance.

5. Are we sure........again!

6. Dealing with selling the house.

While these sound simple, they all took weeks or days to achieve. But it's doable one step at a time.

Since we already had the RV it was not on our list.

This discussion reminds me of this video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EO36YkFHODM, from Larry Winget on Problem Solving.  It is a 4:39 long, watchable on cellular.  I like Larry Winget's view of the world, just look at his book titles on http://www.larrywinget.com/ to see what I mean. My favorite title is "It's Called Work for a Reason".

Anyway the main advice he gives is to write the problem down, honestly.  Now that it is written down you can break it down in smaller pieces and solve them individually.

Not to get totally off topic, but Larry Winget is one of my favorites. He doesn't sugarcoat life....which I appreciate. Probably why I like this forum....not a lot of sugarcoating going on....people speak reality and give a variety of perspectives!!

I still think that full timing in a simpler (and cheaper biggrin ) lifestyle choice!
