Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Our Neighbor Has a Slight Problem

First of all, allow me to explain that the mobile home park we live in is owned by a lady in the horse industry.  A number of the sites here, of which there are 16 of them, are pretty much used by folks that are in the horse racing industry.  Since we've been here (2 1/2 years) we've only got one couple that are associated with racing that returns every year.  In fact, they pay year round even though they are only here for a few months each year.  They just want to make sure that they always have a site for their fifth wheel.

At least two sites next to us get new people every few months and they have NEVER been the same folks.  Most of the others with the horse industry rent mobile homes that are here, and a few of them must rent their mobile homes year round because they keep returning to the same ones.

Anyway, those that come in next to us are folks that are not RV'ers in the same sense that the rest of us are.  For the most part, they happen to own an RV in which to live instead of renting.  Over the last 2 1/2 years, we've seen some pretty rough trailers next to us.  The first one was too cheap to buy a new battery, so when they went to set up, they literally used a hydraulic jack to lift the front end off of the truck and set it where they could level it.

Our new neighbor that is right next door has a slight problem.  We have been in freezing weather since about last Thursday and they apparently have some kind of leak right at where their water inlet is located.  That, or they are intentionally letting it leak so that water in the hose will still run enough to keep from freezing.  Anyway, below is a picture of the icicle that has formed at the water inlet.

Glad we don't have such problems.

Terry

I'm wondering how much cold the mickey mouse A/C unit in the window must let in

....Wasn't there a song titled "How much is that A/C in the window?" that was popular in the 50's ?

At first I was going to guess they left the leak to prevent the hose from freezing but after seeing the A/C unit, I'm guessing a bad washer/connection.

Another fine example of "My coach is falling apart because I lost my common sense and the manual to operate it" .......they will blame the lower water soaked , delaminating seam on poor manufacturing !!!.....a new 5 cent hose washer would probably fix it......along with a lesson in Righty tighty..Lefty lucy!!!!!

Bear,

It isn't a big fifth wheel, so it is likely that there is no washer in the unit.  In addition to that and the a/c, all the blinds look like they are breaking down.  Sadly, there are very few units in here that look good.  One "group" that comes in here regularly seem to have some fairly nice units.  Part of that group seems to be vendors for the horse people at the race track, which is apparently why they return regularly..

not trying to speak for Bear but I took his comment to mean the it is the rubber washer on the hose and not a washer/dryer unit causing the leak. May be wrong (happened at least once before biggrin) but regardless that is one nice looking stalactite he has going there.

Let me add a little more to the discussion.  The resident appears to be a single mother with a young son and two small dogs.  It appears that she is "associated," perhaps family, with the couple in the fifth wheel next to her.  Both came in around the same time, and she is known to go visiting the other trailer fairly often.

And, Phil could be right.  It might be that Bear meant that the hose washer was a problem.  We came home this evening after a day of temps a bit above freezing and the stalactite is now history.  However, Jo said it was obvious that there was still a stream of water running down from the connection.

The racing season is supposed to end in a few days, so I guess we'll see if they all move on.

I've seen this sort of thing many times in an RV park and it irritates me because water is such a precious resource and this runs up the expense for the owners that pass it on to you and I. In the summer, it is a good way to attract "creatures" of all sorts.
