Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Coldest Place on Earth-#1 reason to go full time

Hi every one, I am east of Edmonton Alberta and we made the news today as the coldest place on EARTH today. As I type this we are at -38 and -46 with the wind chill. Colder than Antarctica and Siberia. I can't believe we still have power as it usually goes out at temps like this. Tomorrow is going to be even colder by a few degrees so we are bundled up in our tiny 650 sq foot house. This is one of my main reasons to go fulltime by spring, I can't or rather won't do another year at these temps. I will miss the scenery and snow but that is one trade off I am willing to make!!!Stay warm down south folks as this is staying for a day or two even in your neck of the woods, although not as horrid but still need to keep those pipes warm. Take care...Deb

I am feeling really warm after your comment. We are in Minneapolis area and its a 'balmy -10F". We are also looking at this winter as being the last in the northland. Stay warm, see you down the road.

Hi Bob & Lindy, -10 is still no picnic. I have a feeling that a lot of us on the verge of full timing will have an easier time transitioning after this winter. I even bought a big buddy heater for emergency this year but I was going to pack it in the motorhome but now it may be used for survival in the house. "I'm dreaming of a white Christmas"---NOT. Well white maybe but freezing not so much.

If -10 is "Balmy" then I guess our 28* is downright a heat wave! It wouldn't be bad here except for the non-stop wind. Its been blowing 15-20 all yesterday, last night, and continueing today.

How I had hoped to not have to face another winter in the S & B, 3 degrees here today with the high yesterday of 19. It was warmer where I grew up in MI! At least it is dry due to the never ending drought yet another issue. I'd drive away today if we had the trailer purchased, leave the key under mat and call the realtor from the road!

Well, it is 26 here in southern Arizona at 6:30 am.  We do see the sun and it does warm up during the day so it isn't that bad. I don't think I could handle the - temps.  At least not in an RV.

We're at 21 in the Dallas area. One of our marinas boat house roof collapsed on about 50 yachts from the ice on the roof. No relief here until late Mon or Tues.

My wife's grandfather grew up in Peace River, Alberta, so we have heard many stories on how cold it can get up there.

Low 40 here in Seal Beach, CA and I thought it was cold with a high of 55 today. Sending some 50 degree weather to our northern friends.

Bill:

Believe it or not, we’ve been to and camped at Peace River.  Really nice and pretty place; except for a LOT of rain.  We stayed at the Lion’s Club Campground which, unfortunately, had a bad fire and had to clear almost all the trees.
