Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Anyone got an idea how to get the grease off the inside of the Galley grey water tank, please ? Worked fine for 8 months. I am told grease is the cause, but not sure. Looking forward to your suggestions. Thank you.
I don't know much about that since we don't have a galley tank, just a single grey tank, but doesn't Dawn dishwashing soap cut grease? You might try introducing Dawn to the tank and filling the tank.
We always wipe off plates and cookware into the trash prior to washing anything. The less one introduces grease to the tank, the better off one would be. Two-plus years as full time in the coach and we've not had this issue at all. I just checked under the sink and the wife has a large bottle of Dawn under there. (That tells you who does the dishes around here. I've offered, but she says to "stay out of her kitchen.") I just go in there to make my coffee.

It is not really grease but is water bearing gunk building up on tank walls that fools the sensors. If you have tank flushers and use them religiously that may help. Anything you can do to clean the tank walls may help.
We full timed for 11 years and do not have built in flushers and nothing has worked - and we have the external sensors on the tanks.
Our gray water tank read 2/3 full for years and then started reading full for the last few years. Last summer we lived in our house all summer and the tank walls dried out.
The black tank which has read full for years read 2/3 full when empty and full when full. It then started reading full all the time again after a couple of weeks or so.
The gray tank started reading properly and still is after about four weeks.

I was just on RV University and he recommended using holding tank chemicals in the black tank. No one here ever talks about chemicals. Is this something full timers don't use?

I use chemicals in my tanks when the weather requires it......I find most people either use a homemade bio-mix or store bought......I would not recommend not putting anything at all in there....dont think it would be healthy for you or the tank
As far as the grey tank....when I am on shore line I leave it open , prior to leaving I close it and add a 1/4 cup of dishwasher detergent and a couple gallons of water....the swishing action while going down the road cleans the tank and keeps it that way.........I have had bad sensors come back to service this way!!! I also use this method in my black tank while in transit/
