Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
There was some previous discussion on the Equalizer Hitch so I wanted to share what we had to say about it without the other thread on other types being hijacked. We pulled a 24' travel trailer as novices using a Ford Club Wagon (fancy van) and an Equalizer. Our first tow was from NC to KS, first going south before turning west to TX then up to KS. We traveled all sorts of roads including the major hiways and had not a single issue with the trailer and van operating like a single unit. On our first stop, there was no choice but to take a back-in slot which my husband navigating without issue with the Equalizer in place. Although some may have had issues with leaving the Equalizer in place, we did not. I emailed the company last week to ask if we were supposed to have removed the Equalizer before backing and received this response
"One of the many great benefits of the Equal-i-zer hitch is you do NOT have to remove the spring arms when backing. The Equal-i-zer hitch has NO back or tight turn restrictions."
We would never have any other after our experience. My husband is reminding me of going through a tunnel in AR and I had told him to slow down but, well, sometimes........... So, we came to this tunnel and the road declined significantly and we encountered only semi trucks going full speed ahead. Like a roller coaster ride but we had no control issues. Thrilled my son! Me not so thrilled!

We fully agree with you on the EQUAL I ZER wt distribution hitch. We did our due diligence before selecting a hitch and it excels in all categories. We are fortunate to have put many thousands of miles on it and would not change. As you said only the hitch to connect and NO separate anti sway equipment.
Also really important is the no backing restrictions on other brands/types of hitches.
