Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Kartchner Caverns Campground

We just spent some time visiting the Tucson area and LOVED the campground in Kartchner Caverns State Park.  62 level sites (35ft - 60ft), several pull throughs, level, E/W, 30 & 50amp, dump station & showers.  Very clean and fairly spaced out with vegetation/sm trees between sites and all throughout.  There are 2 nice hiking trails in the park and picnic/group areas. Lots to do in the area.  $25 per night.

The gates lock at 10p, but you can request an access card that will get you in/out at all hours.

We stayed in the campground several years ago and loved it. It is a beautiful desert campground. We actually had a road runner that daily visited our campsite looking for raw ground beef handouts. The camp hosts had a couple hummingbird feeders out and the hummingbirds were thick in that area.

Just looking at more info on this park and planning a trip there in February. There appears to be 2 different cavern tours, any feedback on which one is better? Our time and entertainment budget probably won't be able to handle both of them.

Great to have the awesome info and feedback. Makes an easier decision to go places when people give the detailed feedback.

Hi Ruth,

I honestly couldn't choose between the two!  We were there in Sept last year  We did one, had a nice picnic lunch in between then did the other.  We did have reservations in advance.  It really is easy to do them both in one day.  While you are walking, it is mostly flat-ish.  I would have a very hard time picking one over the other.  They are both incredible and I've been in several caverns.  This is definitely a special place as they are living caverns.  I've not been in anything like this.  If you really can only do one, I'd ask at the help desk for their opinion.  Will you be staying at their campground?  It is also amazing!  Here is a link to the tours: http://azstateparks.com/parks/kaca/tour_info.html  and the campground: http://azstateparks.com/parks/kaca/facilities.html#Camping

Have fun!!
