Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
I always thought the F-450 just had a little more suspension thus carrying capacity. I have a F-350 DRW and have added air bags to the rear axle to help with carrying the Lance truck camper.
My real question is if we decide to upgrade to a nicer/heavier 5th wheel ie. Mobile Suites, would I need to buy a new truck also?
Had both (F-450 for my Elite Suite). The differences depend on the year. In general the F-450 I had had a better turning radius than the F-350, and the F-450 cost more. Check the specs carefully for the year you are looking at. I needed the 450 for my 20.000# Suite in 08 but in 2012 the 350 would have done the job.
The main differences are the F450 has the wide track front end which gives it great turning ability and it has the 4.30 gear ratio which gives greater pulling power but less mpg.

Yep in all regards and wery true about the turning radius and the MPG in most cases and the F-350 does come in a single rear wheel which is not generally appropriate with a big 5’er such as the Elite Suite.(Overload situation as well as safety and stability of the DRW.)
But it really depends on the year of manufacture and the specifications of the individual truck which can vary greatly; especially in models over the last 10 or so years.You must check the specifications of the specific truck carefully.Not just the “350 / 450” badge on the side.“It depends" on the year and how they built the truck. I.e. the options. Lots of variables.
