Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Over our very short time RVing we've become pretty particular about what we're looking for. Spent the day Sunday goin "na-eh, na-eh, na-eh" at all the high priced, stupid lay-out rigs. Whoever designed those behemoths nevre planned on cooking in them, I'll tell ya that! Utter disgust with the modern floorplan has got me lookin 'vintage'. And then I cam across this baby! Look at her style, her rosewood cabinetry, her beautiful counterspace! And one person can brush their teeth and not have to sit on the lap of the person goin potty! What a novel idea!
Wel, I was just wonderin what y'all thought of her. Particularly from the boondocking standpoint. Seems I'm at a crossroads. Want the seclusion of boondocking, but the space of a full-time rig. What do you think? Lucky Mike, what are your thoughts on this one?
Well, I can't be of much help but it is a beautiful coach. I know that while traveling, we have seen more than a couple of the super older Foretravels, the older ones that are usually orange/cream so longevity is definitely there. Foretravel is one of those that is in a class by itself with nothing to compare to and there aren't many of those these days.
you might want to PM....kb0zke....
David bought one this past spring and is out there having a ball with it!!!
They are a well built unit!!....they didnt go under because of a lack of quality!......as far as boondocking a little tweeking and your all set to go. If you boondocking plans are for the west coast , southwest and central plains areas you will be comfortable. once you cross the Smokie's it gets a little more difficult.
As most people find out , on the east coast boondocking for large rigs is a tough find unless your planning on parking lots.......when I first bought the rig Im using now I didnt think I would like it after dropping in size from 40'.to 24 '.....but all of a sudden I found out I could hide anywhere.
This foretravel has a nice pricepoint for the amenities that are with it and the mileage shows it was driven and did not sit.......look over the service records and see when the last PM service was done , plan on setting a little money aside for mayday's due to the age because it will be difficult to get an extended warranty for it..(PM Howard and ask whats available)
Nice unit!!.....Goodluck!!

As Mike said, the Foretravel's are really nice rigs. I think they were built in Nacadoches TX. I thought I heard they were up and running again but not sure about that.
WOW I have never seen such a clean basement or rig overall. I am too much a slob for white upholstery but sure is nice looking. That whole coach is truly spotless!

Foretravel is up and running. I was at their factory this spring. They make a quality coach.

That coach is very similar to ours! The ad doesn't say it, but it is a U300 Special Edition. The SE just means that it has even more luxury items than normal. One of the things that these older Foretravels has that owners love is the tambour doors on the overhead cabinets. These look like solid walnut (and each piece actually is) but the doors roll up like the rolltop desks, only sideways. The doors don't come open as easily. The U280 and U300 are wide-body in this era, and don't have slides. BTW, on our limited travels so far we're getting 7.5 mpg with the generator running.
