Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

We think we have found the one we want....any opinions on this one before we jump???

This is our first time buying a motorhome, or any rv for that matter. We have researched and shopped around and came across this one. We saw it today and both agreed we liked it. One owner, kept up and maintained in timely manner, etc. Took it out on the road and it ran great. Everything works in it. The price seems right, especially if we can negotiate down even lower. What do you think?

The link didn't work for me either, but I found it too.

Looks like a very clean rv from the pictures. Like Phil said, get the date code off the tires. Six tires @ $500.00 ea = $3000.00. Most people like to buy new tires after 4 years. You need to worry about the sidewall as much or more than the tread. I would smell the tranny fluid to see if it's burnt. Look for water leaks.

You might also consider paying a rv tech to check out the rig.

Don't be afraid to ask specific questions on here.

EDIT: looks like my link doesn't work either.

You have to replace the apostrophe with "%27" to make the link work:

OK, I give up.  Activeboard wins this one.

I couldn't get the link to work so did a search on the site and found the unit. Looks like a nice find. Not sure about the red chair? But that is a matter of taste and can be changed out easily if you want. You said everything worked, did you run all the systems ie: A/C (dash and roof units), heat, water and water heater? Did you run the generator? How are the tires and what are their ages (date stamps are on the sidewalls). Sounds like the fridge was just replaced and looks new in the photos, this is a big plus as the fridges are high $$'s.

If you are serious about buying I would suggest spending some additional time in the coach making sure it is comfortable for you. Maybe the buyer would even let you spend a night at a local campground to seal the deal, wouldn't hurt to ask. That way you could test all the systems and really look the coach over at your leisure.

At first look it looks very nice and seems to be a good price. Tiffan makes a nice unit and has a good reputation for customer service, even on their older coaches.

Thanks to all for the reply to my posting. I am sorry the link didn't work. After researching and comparing prices to other ones similar to this, we have concluded that we did indeed stumble on a good deal. The owner was very honest and forthcoming with info on the MH, to the best of his knowledge. We did run the AC and generator. Yes, the refrigerator is new. The date on the tires shows that they are 3 years old and look good. I think we are going to "jump" and make an offer on it before it gets away. We are excited about making this change in our lives and becoming fulltimers.

The unit sure looks sweet! And I happen to like the red chair! A big plus for a chef like me is the ample counter space in the galley.
I personally know someone who recently dropped around $250,000.00 for a Tiffin Allegro. Yes - a quarter million large! I'm not saying it isn't really nice and all, but just think - if yours breaks down you can go buy TEN of them for that kind of money!
Good luck with the transaction and be sure to let us know how it went.

How did it run on the test drive? With the maintenance, is that all written down and have you read completely through that to see if there are any reoccurring problems? I would google "issues with 2002 Tiffin Allegro" which I did do and read through that and make sure that if there were recalls that they had been addressed by the owner.

We have made an offer and agreed on a price. So meeting tomorrow to  hand over some money and start the transaction. It is normal to feel a little anxious? I am pretty confident we are getting a good deal on this, but still going into the unknown makes me somewhat nervous. Thanks for all the suggestions and support.

OK.  I went through and "activated" all of your links to go to what I think is the right one.  If not, let me know and I'll search out the right one and make sure I do correct all the links to the right RV.

If you go to the "Forum Tips" category at the top of the forum pages, you'll find a link I put in entitled "Inserting Links into Forum Posts."  I included images so anyone wanting to learn how to create links can do so.  It is really easy to do.

congrats! Sounds like you "did good"! When I was growing up my parents traded travel trailers several times through the years. Each time we got a new one we would always eat dinner in the new rig the first night we had it home, a tradition I continued with my wife (and kids when they were home). That was always a fun thing to do and looking back can remember every first dinner and every "new" rig we ate it in.

Cheers!

Phil

Congrats!!! And I think it is perfectly normal to feel a little anxious when making an important purchase like this. And try not to be discouraged if within the first month or so you have something pop up that needs repaired. It's the nature of the beast it seems.

Congratulations!!! If you didn't feel anxious or excited you probably shouldn't have bought an rv. And as Hdrider said, don't worry about the little things that need fixing or adjustments, it's part of the lifestyle.
