Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Ben and I live in Conifer, CO (in the foothills southwest of Denver). Ben is a nurse and I am a psychologist and a nurse. Our retirement plan was to sell our house and become full-time RVers. Well, several months ago I said "why wait?" So we will put the house on the market in January and hit the road once it sells. Ben will do travel nurse assignments, and I will try to get work as a psychologist or as a nurse. We have been working on downsizing all our stuff, and we (gulp!) just put a downpayment on a 2014 Arctic Fox 32-5M. We have been doing a LOT of research for the past several months and think we are getting more and more prepared. We have done lots of camping in our pop-up truck camper, sometimes for weeks at a time, so we think we more or less know what we're in for in some respects. The forum has been a great help and we've learned a lot reading everyone's posts, thank you all!! We are pretty excited, and hope the house sale brings us a little cash to offset the hefty price of the RV. Here's hoping this is our last winter with snowfall measured in feet instead of inches!

Welcome to the RV Dreams forums. You will find this to be a place with very friendly, helpful and encouraging folks. Feel free to ask questions, and since you've already been doing some camping/RV'ing, we also look forward to any comments and answers that you can provide.
Glad to have you as part of the family of RV'ers here that are both dreamers and dream-livers.
Terry

Hi Ben & Jo, I live in Alberta's north so I feel your" snow pains". I am leaving a few months after you guys for the freedom of the rv life. Hope your sale goes great and I am with you on the why wait for retirement mentality as waiting too long can be hazardous to your life enjoyment. Take care....Deb
Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! We are hoping to be at the RV Dreams Rally in April. Who knows, maybe the house will sell quickly and we can be there in the new 5th wheel home!

I think this is becoming more popular. We are debt-free and while our things are not the latest and greatest, no one is coming to take them away if our income would be disrupted. My husband got a job with a company and it was only supposed to be 1st or 2nd shift but after one month, it became 3rd shift Tuesday night through Saturday night so all of our plans for camping and attending events went down the tubes for the summer. This job is controlling our life! We have moved around a lot. Last place, supposed to be a nice, quiet town was along the path of the Mexican drug cartel and the entire area was corrupt. Here, "hit and run" incidents are always in the paper for a variety of reasons, either they have lost their licenses or are illegals so I hesitate to even walk our dogs on the street. Yeah, KS isn't Mayberry by a long shot! We lived full-time in a TT and once in a 5th long term when my husband was working for a federal contractor. Life was so much easier and we weren't tied to real estate and we had "time". We are 59 years old and have our son with DS who is 27. Temp jobs seem to be thriving and I expect that will increase as companies try to stay under certain limits. So, why not?
Welcome to the site! There are lots of very experienced full-timers that are more than willing to help out with any questions you have.
My hubby and I made the decision about 2 months ago now, and we are prepping all the time! I had the Salvation Army here with their truck yesterday getting the first "installment" of donations! We hope to have the house on the market early next spring, order our new 5th wheel home immediately and be on the road as soon as we close! Can't wait!
We are also attending the Rally in TN - so we will meet you there! Can't wait!
Welcome to the "non-retired" full timer lifestyle!! Dale is an artist, I work the "corporate" job from home, fly occasionally for business. Our travel patterns are determined by the art show schedule. Just sold the house this summer and have been full time for almost 3 months now and are loving it!! Took the first few weeks to work out a few kinks and we finally, finally feel like we're getting into a routine and have learned to hold our plans loosely as we never know when or who might change them.
Welcome Ben & Jo. I agree with you're why wait theory. I am also a nurse & am confident that I can find a telecommuting job when we go full time. Have been looking at flexjobs.com and there are a lot of options. My husband is retired so no worries for him. We're ready now, but we have to wait for our 18 yr old son to get out of community college before we can give up our S&B. We are hoping to get our rv some time in 2014 & start part timing with a goal of fall 2015 for full time. Good luck with your sale & preparations.
Welcome Jo & Ben! Sounds like you are well on your way to pursuing your new dream! This is a great resource and the people are awesome!
We also are ready to go but not quite ready to leave Colorado, but hope to be out of here by Halloween and no later than Thanksgiving.......we are so done with the snow and cold!
