Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Jo and I are researching job and living possibilities for the area of Colorado Springs and Denver. While we've checked out Colorado Springs really well, we've not been to Denver yet to check things out there.
We are wanting a nice RV park that would be open to allow folks to live year-round. One job that Jo has applied for would be on the west side of Denver, so we would "hope" for a place near Lakewood, Colorado. We'd also consider any mobile home park that would allow RV's.
Anyone got any ideas of good places?
Terry

Hi Terry,
I am new to the forum and will post in the new members forum soon. We live in Conifer, southwest of Denver in the foothills, and plan to put our house on the market in January and become full-timers once it sells. We have checked out RV parks and can give you some info. There are not too many on the west side of Denver. The Flying Saucer RV Park on Hampden Ave. (Hwy 285) just west of Santa Fe Ave. seems pretty nice and open year round. Dakota Ridge in Golden, CO is very nice--and very pricey. There is a small one just outside of downtown Golden, CO (on 10th) called Clear Creek, which is actually right on the creek in a nice area but they don't take reservations so you have to call to see if they have any spaces and go on a waitlist if they don't. Prospect RV Park on 44th in Wheatridge is small and all gravel, no grass anywhere, we weren't impressed. There are a couple of state/county parks but they have a 14-day limit (Chatfield State Park and Bear Creek Lake Park). That's all that we have found. We didn't look into mobile home parks, just RV parks. We'd be happy to answer any questions we can, and just let us know if you want any further info about any of these parks. I am sure you know this, but we can get quite a bit of snow and typically have at least a couple of weeks of 10-below-zero days here :)

Heh.....maybe I better convince the wife that Colorado Springs would be better in the winter than Denver. I really don't like "below zero." However, I do appreciate your answers. That gives us an opportunity to look those over and see what might work for us. In fact, we are planning on being in Denver on Saturday. Our youngest son (Eric - age 41) is flying in to spend the last week of our vacation with us. We will then be trying to see a friend of ours and another member of the RV Dreams forum family.
I doubt that we will have time to check out all the RV park locations, but at least I have an idea of where my research needs to be. Thanks much.

There's another one called South Park Mobile Homes and RV Community that we haven't checked out because they have dog restrictions that would exclude us. It is year-round and not too far from Flying Saucer, but be sure to check out the neighborhood--it starts to get a little dicey around there (South Federal Blvd). Of those I mentioned above, most likely your best bets will be Flying Saucer, Dakota Ridge or Prospect Place RV Park. Those are the ones most geared toward longer stays. Clear Creek in Golden has monthly rates in the off-season but I don't think they offer those rates in summer. Please let us know if you discover any that we haven't found--we will be coming back to Colorado from time to time and won't have our house anymore at that point :)
Definitely feel free to ask questions and we'll answer whatever we know. Let us know where you end up so we can meet up for coffee sometime!

Thanks, Jo. While we would prefer to be down around Colorado Springs, Jo is looking in both Denver and the Springs. She is the one with the degree, thus better able to find jobs with higher pay, so we will go wherever she finds a job. Me, I'm qualified to be a big box store "cart-dude," even though I'm in my '60's. In fact, cart-dude might be the best for me to help me lose some weight.
I'll be checking out all of those you listed (we had seen the Dakota Ridge one) and if we end up there, we'll do more touring of actual parks.

Wishing you the best in your new adventure. I can understand not living in tornado alley and wanting to live closer to family and in the Colorado beauty but I am struggling with the idea of wintering in Colorado in your Suites! Don't think I've ever met anyone who didn't love Colorado though. That's just one thing I love about this forum, we have folks living every kind of full or part-time life possible and I you all keep opening my mind.
In the past I have found good weather, economic, housing and often neighborhood data on city-data.com. You might find it helpful.

.....as I'm writing this, Jo is in an online chat with a company that is looking for IT people that can work remotely. I don't know how this will come out, but with that option, we could be anywhere and her still be working. In such a case, there is no telling what we will actually end up doing. I guess we'll see what happens. Who knows, it might not be anything that she, or we, would really want to do. At this moment, I don't know for sure whether we will like this deal. One of the online questions to her in the chat she is having has us a bit concerned.

Thanks, All. However, the "online" deal seems to be more of a scam than a real opportunity. It turns out that when things started to look dicey because "the company" insisted that we had to purchase $400 worth of software to put on the computer they would provide for us, red flags and bells started going off in my head. I told her to press them as to why the company would not send the computer with the software already installed, especially since it was a software that "the company" required the employee. They kept dodging the answer, so Jo just asked point blank, "WHY?"
This was done on a chat feature and although there was never a "hang-up" from the other end, no responses ever came again, even when Jo asked if anyone was still there.
So, Jo called the company that "the company" claimed to be and no one at the company named knew of the individual that was "interviewing" Jo, nor did they hire people as "the company" was trying to do.
So, back to looking. However, if our employment happens to be in the Colorado Springs area, we will likely park at Mountaindale Cabins and RV Park just about 18 miles southwest of Colorado Springs on Hwy 115. We ran across other RV parks and mobile home parks but didn't like any that had places for RV's that weren't either crammed in together or just in lousy parts of town with lots of noise.

Native spirit: Read Jo and Bens first response. All of those are south and/or west.
Terry, temps aren't much different between cospgs and Denver. My nephew got more snow in very south Denver (470 and Sante Fe), but the temps for us in the springs were actually slightly colder than him most of the winter. That being said, depending on the year, all bets are off. North and east Denver typically get less snow than very south Denver. I think it might be a bit of the function of elevation. Let me tell you about the minus 18 we had that froze the shocks on the car. Cospgs is a smaller town and easier to navigate when the weather turns sour. But in the summer has pretty regular hail in the afternoon. Sometimes pretty large. I grew up in Denver and spent six years at AF Space Command. Two reasons I don't live in Colorado, cold winters and taxes. They have lots of both.

Hi this post might be to late but don't go to Prospect rv park in Wheat ridge co. its way to small and you are right next to your neighbor also the people there don't keep their dogs on leashes I stepped in doggie doo several times a few right outside our door that's north west of Denver and flying saucer is south east but its 70 years old and no new updates plus the area is bad part of town there is Denver meadows on 225 east of Denver and Colorado Heights south of Denver about 30 minutes both of those are ok but I like Colorado Heights better little more drive time but a beautiful park God Bless hope I was helpful Love Tina and Mark
Hey guys there is Denver meadows on 225 east of Denver not to many good ones in Denver we checked and most are full up already as of first of april Colorado Heights is a great place we loved it there I think we are going back
MarkS did I mess up I might have read it wrong the winters in Denver aren't as bad as the Midwest now ! I set up the first tanning salons in the U S I made a promise to my self to come back to Montana or Colorado to live out my life I love Colorado and yes the taxes are alittle high take care my friend
You got it right. Midwest winters can be brutal. My comparison was between Denver and cospgs. One thing about the whole front range is that in mid winter you can have 60 degree days. It feels like spring. Really breaks up the winter doldrums.
