Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
I'm looking to get any relevant info from Canadian people that have purchased their motorhome in the US.
Since we have decided that we should become fulltimer in approx 24 months, we're having a closer look to our options regarding our purchase. We already know the type of RV we want for living. I've been browsing the web for so many years and attented several RV show but now it's time to begin our serious shopping process. Now it is time not only to look at them on the screen or at an RV show it is time for serious shopping.
I would like to know if it was worthwhile to buy in the US instead of buying in Canada. Right now the exchange rate is not to high compare to several years ago. I find that there is more choice and it seems that the price across the border is better. Unless I find the deal of the year I'm looking to buy new. We will be looking at a DP with 4 slides or a full wall +2.
If someone had any dealing with dealers like MHRVS out of Texas or RV one or any other dealers that are use to do business with Canadian I would like your comments. As an example was the importation was an easy process or if it was a pain. According to CBSA the process to import a vehicule doesn't look very hard but all the steps need to be followed otherwise it can be frustrating. Is there any concern I should be aware or to take into consideration if I choose to buy in US. Any ideas or tips will be greatly appreciated.
Bought mine through Cranky Ape Auction. Got it out of Orlando, Florida. I use Percy H. Davis for my business broker. That's who I used for the brokering.......Went smooth. I just contacted the coach & chassis manufacturer for the required recall letters(which were all ok). Faxed the letters to the broker. Had Cranky Ape fax the paperwork and title to the broker(don't send originals just in case they get lost in mail). The original documents will be with the seller when you pick up the unit. That way you for sure have the doc's in hand when you get to the border. Just make sure what ever you're buying is able to be imported into Canada.
