Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Well I won't tell my life story with a few words but I simply want to say that "Houston" we have a countdown..... Basically we are a long time married couple uh...uh I've 30 years of loyal services ah.ah.ah, Yes it is true I got a call saying that I should get my service medal for everything I did for "My Queen".....
No seriously, we have been dreaming of retiring in an RV many years ago and thaught it would come through in 2018. Things have changed since a few months, I still don't know the real reason why? maybe someone turn on a switch in my brain or maybe a fuse blew out last february when the calendar said to me "hey dude you are turning 50 this morning!!!!!" Since that day the dream of retiring in an RV grew up fast in my mind, like I said we have been planning this dream a long time ago. Still we said we should be able to wait 5 more years. Bip....... wrong answer.
We went to the Hershey RV show last week and it took us a few hours to realise that it was the time. When we arived the first day my wife said "Jean calm down" she said that because I was acting like a kid at Disneyland. Like I said we've been planning and dreaming about fulltiming many years ago and "the Survey said" GO FOR IT before it is too late. I've joined the RV Dreams forum not too long ago and I've been reading it since. Even if I've done a lot of research and did my homework on the lifestyle I still learn good stuff when I'm browsing the topics.
So to make a short story I really had a hard time to leave Hershey without my RV but I will be in the process of serious shopping. Just like all the fulltimer previous life, I still live a conventionnal life with the house, two cars, a lot but a lot and a lot of stuff and our two babies called "Marley" & "Mistress" wich are our Harley Davidson. We will sell and give a lot but the babies are coming with us, no way we are going to leave them behind.
"Houston" we have a countdown "T minus 18 to 24 months" before our "lift off" Until then I might ask you Fulltimer Veteran some questions or might try to steal some of your precious knowledge.
By the way sorry if I made any mistake I'm not perfect I'm French Canadian loll........
PS: when I say a lot of stuff I'm not talking about my things but I'm talking about my wifes' 50+ dresses, 75 pairs of shoes, etc.......Ha.Ha.Ha
A simple thought becomes a seed to a dream.....
A simple dream answers questions to one's Reality........
And once it is realized theres no turning back. We nurture it and help it grow our wings to fulltiming!!!!
See you out here!!!!!!!

Mike I don't know if it should be Lucky Mike or Wisdom Mike. Anyhow thanks for the post it is poetry when I'm reading it.
You are right about the seed and the nurture I wish I could find some sort of RV Viagra so I would be able to hit the road sooner. One thing is for sure is that I'm in a fulltime working mode to become a fulltimer.
We too, went to the Hershey show and decided it was time. We had been toying with the idea, but the show was it. That was in September of 2011. We took the winter to begin with the downsizing. Put the house on the market in May, sold it and made settlement by August 30 of 2012. We had an RV dealer on the corner so each weekend we would go and look through their lot picking out #1-2-3. During the 3 months we saw a couple of favorites be sold so we picked others. The day came when it was time to put down the deposit and they were all gone. Luckily that day 3 came in and one was marked for us. We decided to buy used to see if we liked the lifestyle. It is now a year later and we know we made the right choice. We are still downsizing because the stuff you think you need or want keeps changing daily. Things will just begin to come together and you just know it is the right thing to do. Ask Bill, he knows about the 'clothes'. We found that the ones we took with us no longer fit, since this lifestyle was to our benefit, and we both lost weight. WooHoo, shopping!!!! (It's a girl thing). Like Mike says, I personally love his outlook on life and his wisdom,

We started planning around age 49 - we are now 51 and are putting house up in the spring. There is no turning back - in fact the emotional separation from the S&B life is complete - we are all consumed and focused on the goal of getting outta here
It sounds like you are just as focused and motivated - it will happen for you!
Have a blast along the way - the Dreamers are a great help.
P.S. We are going to the April Rally to learn more & solidify our research - if you can, attend a rally, I think it will help a lot. If you do, we will see you there!
