Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Got back Tuesday from my trip to Mesquite, NV for a BBQ contest. Part of the trip put me on I-70 from roughly Green River, UT to I-15 to Mesquite. The fuel prices in Utah and the little part of Nevada that I saw were running $4.06 cash and $4.15 credit or debit. Since I don't carry $1,000.00 around in my pocket I paid the $4.15 price.
I stayed in a KOA in Green River going and coming, and it was OK. The 50 amp sites are long, but out in the open with no pads and the hook-ups are way forward in the sites. A couple of the 30 amp sites are in the trees with a grass area around them. Ray's Tavern (beer and wine) in Green River has good burgers and steaks. Nice conversation with Kitty the bar maid. Tamarisk Cafe next to the KOA was so-so.
Also US191 from Monticello, UT to the intersection with I-70 has a lot of construction with flaggers. Added about 20 minutes to a 3 1/2 hour drive.

Right next to the KOA is Green River State Park. Just across the bridge, same side of the road. 50 amps, $25 which includes shade trees.We stayed there just a couple of days ago and they do take reservations which means we get our preferred big rig site(s).Dump station as well.We’ve enjoyed it as a nice stop more than once. Really nice park right next to the river for an evening walk. FYI for the next time FWIW
So far we’ve been lucky on the fuel coming from the east coast.Highest we’ve paid is $3.89 for diesel in Salt Lake City.Aux tank makes that doable.I’m not sure we’ll “enjoy” those prices as we get into the Pacific Northwest, but we can hope. Gas Buddy is a big help along with the Aux tank for fuel planning.
Prices go up, prices go down, but over time they seem to average up. The highest we have paid is $4.769 in both June and July 2008, months we had to travel over 1500 miles each. I expect to again see such prices once the economy gets back in the black and over $5 a gallon is definitely possible. Our last few diesel fill-ups the prices have been $3.709 to $3.959.

Thanks for the info. I looked at Green River State Park when I came into town from the west. BTW 14' clearance at the west end of town was close since I am 13'6". Since I had stayed in the KOA before and new what to expect I didn't stop there. Maybe next time. Thanks again.
I may be heading to the northwest in late November. A wedding just south of Bellingham, WA. That is a long pull from where I live for just a couple of days at a wedding.

Let me make everyone feel better (or not.) In 2011 we paid $6.49/ gallon in Inuvik, NWT. I’ve seen higher in Mucho Lake, YT, just shy of $7/ gallon but didn’t have to pay it. Aux tank again.
While reallty expensive, everything is relative.Just saying . . .
I just finished up a three three month, 3500 mile trip. Diesel in OH and PA was near the $4 range, but everything south of there was averaging around $3.60 plus or minus a nickel. A method to find those prices is not to refuel along an interstate or major road; especially, truck stops.
WalMart and Sams Club in the southeast have cheaper prices as well as some national grocery chains like Krogers. If I pull into a place that isn't your typical gas station and the pump advertises a membership card program, then I sign up before pumping. That's usually 3-10 cents off on a gallon.
Check out www.gasbuddy.com or www.fuelmyroute.com for less expensive fuel. You then can do a Google map satellite view to see if you are comfortable accessing the location or something near it. Many times you will save 25 cent/gallon vs a truck stop price.

At most Flying J's if you have the membership card you are charged 3 cents LESS than the cash price even when paying by credit card.
We especially like our Sirius Travel Link that is on our factory installed GPS. Ours is programmed for diesel so shows diesel prices at surrounding stations. Another benefit of the link is the 5 day weather forecast and traffic updates on construction, etc.
I find here in Lebanon ; TN. that diesel fuel is cheaper nearer to I-40 than in town. Some places I had been it was the opposite. As mentioned Gas Buddy is a good reference!

Just thought you might be interested. Desiel per gallon in Australia $5.98. More for super dooper Desiel. Petrol (Gas) a little cheaper. Do you guys use Natural Gas over there as a conversion to Petrol? I have my Landcruiser running on both petrol or Natural Gas. Natural Gas cost 3.25 per gallon but dont get quite the same mileage as petrol and not much good when towing. Good saving when using vehicle around town.

Your experience is similar to what occurs here with the CNG. In my past, I worked on agricultural farms and ranches. To save money, we ran a number trucks and pickups on LPG, which is very similar to CNG because both are a compressed liquid gas that provides a gaseous state for introduction to the carburetors. Both are cheaper than gasoline, but are definitely lacking on power and towing capacity. In addition, the gaseous state that is introduced to carburetors have a tendency to dry out any seals in those carburetors, leading them to leak profusely if one tries to run them on regular liquid gasoline. We also found that the valves in a regular gasoline engine running on LPG suffered badly.
Trucks using CNG or LPG is a losing proposition with regards to being able to handle heavy loads, whether carrying or towing. I think a complete redesign of engines and carburetors would be necessary.
I was also not crazy about that large pressure vessel in the bed of my pickup to hold the LPG.
