Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
I am new to the forum and hoping that you all know the right source for me to find a used diesel RV to convert to veggie oil or one that is already converted. A school bus would be OK as well, though I was hoping for something just a bit shorter and easier to park. Here is the ad I wrote that gives more information.
Thanks for your time!
Cheers, Eli
Want to trade house full of furniture and useful stuff for mobile living quarters (renovated school-bus, mobile home, semi-truck, caravan, etc.)
Tired of traveling, you want to settle down? We want to hit the road – let’s swap!
We have a lot to trade – a three-bedroom house full of furniture and other useful stuff, a car, and a scooter (I list our stuff at the end of this message). How much of that stuff we actually end up trading depends on how closely the mobile home fits our requirements.
Qualities we must have in a mobile house:
·Well insulated
·Can sleep 2 together/same bed and hopefully another 2 other people individually as well
·A strong young engine that runs on diesel fuel or veggie oil
·Windows/natural light
·Ability to tow a car
Qualities we are looking for in a mobile house:
·Finished in that it is completely built, ready to live in. Ideally this includes:
oAn enclosed bedroom
oA kitchen area
oA bathroom
oA seating area that can also be a dining table
oAn office zone/desk area ideally separate from the dining table but not a big deal if not
oStorage capacity
·Runs on veggie oil or able to be converted to veggie oil (diesel engine?)
·Solar electricity/PV panels on the roof
·Air-conditioner with backup generator
·Pellet or wood stove/some other source of warmth
·Funkiness a plus (cool funky, not dirty funky)
·Bike rack
·Internet connectivity/satellite dish
·Sound system with speakers
We have a lot to trade – a three-bedroom house full of furniture and other useful stuff, a car, and a scooter. How much of that we trade depends on how closely the mobile home fits our requirements.
Furniture – all brown or blond wood unless otherwise specified
·Three Queen-sized futons (all with metal frames)
·A king sized bed (also metal frame)
·4 dressers
·rolltop desk/dresser
·2 coffee tables (one black laquer)
·5 end tables (one black laquer)
·long hallway table
·large low square wooden table, either large coffee table or floor-seating dining table
·green chair with footstool
·bedside table with drawer
·Dark zebra oak wooden dining room table with 2 chairs
·Light wood table with extendable sides (Parson’s table) and 4 matching chairs that stack inside a hutch inside the table
·Compact metal computer desk -- tall and slender
·Large wood and metal computer desk – broad and two levels with mousepad pull-out
·Two large drawer locking filing cabinet light wood colored
·1 very large bookshelf/entertainment center
·2 tall bookshelves, 1 with side shelves as well
·3 short bookshelves (one white)
·2 bathroom storage towers, one (metal) designed to go over the toilet and the other (white) free-standing on the wall
·2 footstools, one leather and the other wood
More house stuff, not furniture
·Full compliment of kitchen stuff – plates, mugs, glasses, silverware, pots and pans, large and small bowls, cookware and utensils, appliances
·Electronics: Zenith TV with DVD player, flatscreen TV with Blu Ray player, Play Station 3 with 4 controllers and a variety games,
·Art: 3 original watercolor paintings from well-known Western (Colorado) artists, Asian art collection, glass collection, women’s art collection, black and white landscape collection, funky colorful art collection, African art collection
·Exercise equipment: Total gym pro and elliptical machine
·Outdoor furniture: 2 large tables, 1 small table, large lounger, chairs
You can either load up the furniture and take it to your new place, or you can sublet our 3 bedroom, 2 ½ bathroom townhouse inside the East Lake Golf Course until our lease runs out (and possibly beyond if you end up wanting to keep the place, it’s nice). The townhouse has spacious rooms, an open floor plan, a private master bathroom inside the master bedroom, and a lovely back deck that borders the bamboo forest and the golf course lake (you can hear the frogs at night during the warmer months). Minutes from downtown Atlanta or Decatur and walking distance to a large grocery store, and the urban restaurant and night-life oases of the East Atlanta Village, Oakhurst, and Kirkwood, the location can not be beat. Plus, it is affordable, with rent under $1,000 a month. The complex has lots of free parking, a swimming pool, tennis courts, several playgrounds, basketball courts, a baseball diamond, and club-house with an Internet lounge.
While it is far less likely that we would initially want to trade a car, under certain circumstances we might consider including a vehicle in the swap depending on how closely the mobile home meets all of our needs. These vehicles include:
·Scooter: Roketa 150cc with 1,800 miles on it, a helmet, and a chain lock. The scooter is weathered but easy to ride and lots of fun.
·2007 Chrysler Seabring sedan that is worth at least $7,300
On a show called "Shipping Wars" one of the drivers had a diesel truck converted to use veggie oil. On one episode they stopped at 4 different places trying to get veggie oil finally at a 5th location they were able to secure enough oil to get to their destination.
I would hate to travel from restaurant to restaurant negotiating for veggie oil.....
You should have seen some of the containers they had to get oil from...and the smell.
