Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Friends,

You have been such a help in the past.  I apologize if this subject has been covered. . . I tried to search and didn't find my answer.  Please point me in the right direction, if the answer is out there!  A couple years ago we replaced the flooring in the main living area with Pergo.  Looked great, worked great, but we left the carpet on the slides. We have reached a point that the carpet had to go!! (two dogs) After reading so many great comments on Allure, we decided to redo the whole 5th wheel in Allure.  The Allure has been laid on the slides and the floor in the living room/kitchen.  The slides seem to come in with no problem.  The question is how to handle the transition between the slide and the floor?  Over the rollers?  I thought I had read several ideas earlier but can't seem to find any of them now.  Any suggestions?  Thanks ever so much.

Hard to say without seeing your specific condition but knowing Allure and other strip flooring brands I would be looking to extend the flooring over the slide front edge. This extension would work like a sweep that covers the transition..additional adhesive might be needed since part of the flooring will not be solidly resting on a base. This "extension" length will be driven by the width of the transition....I hope that makes sense...

Sorry I can't answer your question, but we have Allure in our S&B home that we put in 2 years ago.  We live in a climate that gets cold in the winter with a few snow showers.  The Allure does not do well with climates under 65 degrees.  The seems pull apart (at the ends).  It does go back together once it warms up, but it's not attractive when separated or comfortable to walk on.  The manufacturer is changing the temp range for the product since there have been so many problems that we and others have had.  We are still waiting for a new floor to go in. 

So, those of you that have put Allure in your RV, have you had any of these problems when in colder climates?  We have leftover product and were thinking of putting it in our 5th wheel (once we purchase it).  But we know we will be in colder temps sometimes.  Because of this, we would glue the seems.  We were told this is acceptable to do, but the company won't gaurantee it.

We replaced our floor and slides with Allure.  We have had no problem with hot or cold temperatures.  Our slides rise up a little when coming in and when fully extended there is a small offset, it is not flush.  There is a metal lip that goes down into the floor but it still is raised about 3/4 of an inch when extended.  Not all slides work the same.  We have a 2002 Damon Intruder.
