Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Roof stain

I noticed when parked in my yard and I look out the window of the house that on the roof by the AC unit there is a brown stain by the middle of the unit and seems to be running out away from the unit. Befor I get up and try to clean it or call the dealer because it`s still under warranty I was woundering if someone could help me out in what it could be. It seems to stay even in the rain It might have been there all the time because the trailer was parked on the other side of the house last year I was thinking about cleaning it and see if it comes off and if it comes back!!

It could be from the A/C drain tube?......if it is and it is rust colored , a small sponge and a solution of "Iron Out" that can be bought at the local grocery store will remove it!!......if this is a rubber roof , use care in what you try to clean it with...stay away from petroleum based cleaners or caustic types...it will break down the rubber sealing

We buy some stuff called Krud Kutter it works well on this and the lines you get around the windows etc. It's cheap and you can use on tons of things, I've not found any thing it will not get off on the RV or in the house. (don't use on carpet without trying first).  Home Depot is the cheapest place to buy.

They make some stuff in the RV area of stores for this kinds of thing but it does not work well and cost more!

I asked about what was needed to clean our "rubber" roof and they simply said mild automotive washing soap on both the roof and the sides of the coach, using a soft bristle brush.  Our stain is definitely coming from the a/c.  Slade at Rolling Retreats told me that they are doing something to extend the (for lack of a better word) drain spouts at each of the four corners of the coach so that the water that runs off, gets further away from the side of the coach.  I also need to get some of those.

I've noticed those spouts are a lot shorted than other trailers that I've seen. Since I bought my unit used I thought maybe someone had cut them back for some reason. If you find a why to make them longer please post.

Put these on our last two 5th wheels and have found them to help direct the water from the gutters away from the sides of the unit:

You can also find them at WalMart and allot of other RV supply stores.
