Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
We're enroute across Montana, decided to Wally Dock and take some time to restock a few things, shopping in a state without sales tax (Whoo Hoo!!)
Listening to the sound of the circling street cleaning device they are using on the parking lot and being thankful they are doing this at 10 PM, not 2 AM as Dale has experienced in the past at Wally World in Utah. Makes me wonder about their timing, are they trying to get us to leave???
Can't complain too much, free camping, a chance to restock a few things at a well stocked store and no sales tax. What a relief at the 9.5% sales tax rate we were used to....
On the way to South Dakota, the Rapid City area. We're now hanging out for a week in Northeast Wyoming, waiting to move to SD until the Sturgis Rally is over.
The number of motorcycles passing us on I-90 over the weekend as we drove through Montana was amazing. So glad we're not in SD this week with all of them.
9.5% sales tax is what I left in Nor Cal. I think here in Carson City it's like 7% (I think). Oh, and the Walmart at the south end of Carson City has campers, and that shopping center has absolutely everything you need... Trader Joes, Marshalls, Dollar store, Petco, Pier 1, Sprint, Verizon, Radio shack, plus about 100 more shops and restraunts, so if you are passing through the area, it's a good place to pit stop.
Motorcycles!!! I counted 238,751 yesterday and more than that today. (Kidding of course). Never in my life have I seen so many on the road at one time and place and I'm about 60 miles from the main event. Starting about 10 or so the traffic picks up and by mid-afternoon it's almost non
stop going both ways. I talked with some of the bikers yesterday and they told me every wide spot in the road had at least 25-30 motorcycles and if it was a place to eat and or drink then the number was more like 75-100. Pretty a amazing, I've added this to my been there seen that list.
Jim,
1 mile north of Custer, SD
