Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
I have recently become infatuated with traveling and RV living (and getting away from my cubicle) and have been lurking all over the Internet to see what it's all about. Recent events have given me the boost to get the process started (booting a cheating boyfriend, apt lease up in 3 months, and i finally bought my 1976 vintage Airstream I have dreamed of for 20 years! ) and I am very excited! I have been reading a lot of the posts here and learning a lot. Thank you all for sharing! I still have much learning and planning to do, but I hope to be full time spring 2014. I think my job is the biggest hurdle since its a niche thats not necessarily mobile.
I look forward to you wealth of knowledge on my journey!

Well, you've not provided a regular name to call you, and I'm pretty sure you aren't Socrates, so I guess I'll have to stick with your username, even as "impersonal" as those things tend to be.
Welcome to the RV Dreams forums and the "family" that is knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, and encouraging. We are prepared to invite people to join us here and we welcome just about any and all questions. The only topics that tend to be frowned upon are religion and politics, so those we stay away from as much as possible. The folks here have knowledge in just about every type of RV that there is, so you've found a good source of information.
Just sit back, take up your "beverage of choice", and sit back and read to your heart's content. A lot of information can be obtained from older posts by using the "Search" function up in the blue bar at the top of the forum pages. In order to "limit" the number of unrelated threads, try to use as few "search words" as possible. If you aren't seeing what you want, don't be afraid to start a new thread and ask your questions. We all learn from each other, so even new questions may have a different perspective than we've seen before.
Caution: there are a few "smart-alecks" here.

Welcome. I was reading this forum daily plus I went back and read Howard's journal from Day 1 from 6 months before they hit the road and up to present. You'll learn so much, even tho it can take months to go thru it all, it's addictive and so informative.
Have no idea who Terry was referring to about Smart-Alec's on here unless he meant LUCKY MIKE!!!
Just sayin.......

As another Newbie, and a Solo Woman with the same dream, I have found the people here to be warm, generous, open with their advice and experience. Check out the Live Chat every night at about 9pm. Great people with great advice and lovely, upbeat attitudes! Welcome to the best RV Community site around!
Thanks everyone for the greetings. I am currently in the process of paring down my belongings and riding out my apartment lease so I can free myself ASAP. Can't wait!
Sherry, I would live to read Howard's journal that you mentioned but I cannot seem to find it. Can you direct me please?
Dawn, Is that your tumbleweed?! did you build it yourself? I couldn't decide on building my own tiny house or going vintage Airstream. I chose the latter but still love the tiny house idea. How long before you plan on living in it? Or are you lucky enough to be there already?
And Terry, my name is actually Merry.

I bet there is a better way to explain this but I'll try. At the top of the forum page is a blue bar. To the far left, just below the bar is a link RV-dreams.com home. Click on that link and on the left are blue and green bars down the side. The link for the Journal is the one you want. www.rv-dreams.com/journal.html
I'd look a little lower on that page and read their decision making process, then follow the links for their early journal entries by date.
Hopefully this windy explanation hels you learn how to navigate theis whole site rather than just provide links. Took me a while.....😄

Hi Merry. I see that your Airstream is a girl and like her name. We call our 5th wheel "Camie", because she's a Cameo. Not very
original, but it fits. Since you are burning the mid-night oil trying to learn all you can, I thought you might like to read some RV blogs.
There is a site called "Hitchitch.com", where you can find lots of blogs by folks doing the RV thing in many different ways. Take a look when
you have time. Welcome and enjoy your journey toward your RV dreams. Pat K
