Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Dreamers in Rapid City/Mount Rushmore/Custer area - the week after Sturgis Rally 2013?

It appears several of you (Ann-Hank, WorkinRVers, Cowdog353) are working camping in the area around Mount Rushmore / Crazy Horse.  I know of at least one other couple besides my and DH headed that way in mid-August.  Ann has been  kind enough to get us the "family and friends" discount where they are working so we'll be staying at their campground.  Wondering who else is going to be in the area the week after the Sturgis Rally ends on August 11th. 

Might be time to plan a mini-Dreamers gathering in western SD!!  I'm more than happy to try to coordinate schedules if anyone else is planning to be in the area.  Feel free to PM me if you're intersted.  Always fun to spend an evening sharing laughs and swapping stories.

We're tentatively planning a trip to Rapid City in August to get our DL and register to vote, etc.  We love the Custer area and were thinking of heading there once we take care of the final details of becoming SD residents (house closed June 21st - yaaaayyyyy!!!!!).   This sounds like it might work out for us too.  I'll send you a note for more details.

I hang out on a motorcycle forum and in 2010 seventeen of us rented a house in Sturgis for the rally. We came from all over the US, a couple from Canada and 2 from Australia. It was so much fun we've rented the same house in Lead and so I'll be in Sturgis for the rally again this year. I love the western part of South Dakota and wouldn't mind sticking around for a while and meeting up with some Dreamers.

For those of you who are interested, Ann and I chatted. Where Ann & Hank are work camping, they have a couple of grills we could use. So, we're thinking we might schedule a couple of BBQ potlucks, let everyone bring whatever they want to throw on the grill and either a salad, side dish or dessert. Knowing some of you are work camping, if you are interested in attending, can you let us know your 1st and 2nd choices to plan our Dreamers SD get together between Aug. 11th - 16th?

We'll plan 2 evenings in hopes that everyone can at least make one of the two options.

What campground are we talking about?  We are staying in Box Elder Aug 1-4 if all my paperwork comes through and then we need to move to a regular campground.  We may even cancel the Americas Mailbox lot for a month at this park if there is space available.

Loretta - I'll send you a PM, Ann & Hank are workcamping between Rapid City and Mt. Rushmore. Some of us will be staying at their campground beginning the 11th. Aug 1-4 is problematic due to the Sturgis Rally, we originally planned to arrive the 3rd, but the rates are outrageous for the week of Aug. 3rd. So we're waiting an extra week somewhere between ID and SD as we're enroute.

HHi Ruth & Dale, Tuesday's work for us. We work Monday's & Tuesday's 0700-1300, on Wednesday we've been getting a 1600-2200 . The Wednesday shift can change week to week, so we never know what day or time it will be.
I'll send you a PM with directions.....you don't want to listen to the lady in your ford gps, it was not fun!
