Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Hello, I have been making plans for Rving, my wife is a hairstylist who is self employed renting a building, Iam trying to encourage her with full timing, she is well established with her job but she is also adventurous and interested in Rving. I was wondering are there great opportunities for her to do hair on some of the Rv parks and campgrounds? We realize she will have to be licensed in each state, some easy to get some not, but want to encourage her with maybe some great opportunities without her having to give up what she so loves to do! Is there a need for this in the Rv parks and campgrounds? Or maybe its too competative ? Or maybe too much red tape? Then again maybe she can do it as a gift without licenses in the state and hope the person will just pay as a gift? Just wondering what all the expert Rvers think about this? Thank you
As a full timer, in a new part of the state...........I had to get a hair cut at Great Clips and it was awful! Would I let another camper cut my hair? Probably, if she could produce a portfolio of pictures of hair cuts or styles she had done! Tell her to start taking some snapshots of work she has done and put it in a photo album!
But that's just me, terrible trimmer of my own bangs.
There is another thread going about dying our own hair and doing our own haircuts...........look in Recent Posts.....
there are several on here that have talked about this subject......in an RV around the campground .....hopefully what happens in RV's stays in RV's........unless she was planning on doing business in a stick and brick or putting up and soliciting with advertising to draw attention to herself....I wouldnt see the need for a license between friends!
word of mouth is all it takes......and gifting someone a basket of fruit from the money tree is not a bad thing...
I would bet for every stop of 60 campsites there are 5 people that would need and want this type of service and would rather give it to a fellow workamper/RV'er.......
I at least every 2 weeks pay someone to take my clippers and go once around the block....LOL
I make my travel money from the RV community and am more than happy to support someone else's endeavors out here!!

Thats a good idea scrappy! A photo album of some of her work. We live in a small town in Wis so no crazy do's usually happen, but iam sure she could do it, more conservative here. Her best advertising has probably been her own hair and the way she dresses! Plus her very friendly nature with people. Only been self employed for 3 years and she is the most recommended one here already out of quite a few salons, so i have utmost confidence in her! Sorry about the hair issues, wish we were there maybe she could help
Thanks Lucky Mike, i did realize it was talked about some after i scrolled a little further , iam sure you are quite used to repeat questions We thought the same thing about the gift idea, and i think she would do just fine and she loves meeting new people! I should be the one worrying! I have done nothing but Logging and tree work all my life! not so sure how that would fit in being a workcamper? Not so sure the campground would appreciate me cutting any trees down
No i didnt look yet, iam gonna wait till she gets home and have her look with me. As far as cutting mens hair, she does a ton of them! Many of the guys are going to her now instead of the barber, Also probably helps, her shop is right next to the tavern!
