Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Watch for my series on RVing in Mexico in RV Life magazine starting in July

I have a 4 part series starting in July (unless it get pushed forward) in RV LIFE magazine. Article 1 will be general information like safety, RV Caravans etc., concentrating on the mainland. The second one will be on the border crossing procedures & paperwork. The 3rd will be authored by my good friend & fellow caravan organizer, Dan Goy of Baja Amigos caravans and will be on Baja, or Mexico "light" as he calls it. The 4th one will be on what RVing in Mexico is generally like and why you should try it.

RV Life is available on line and is usually found for free in Camping Worlds.

Yeah its a new frontier especially for snowbirds who may be finding Az a bit colder than they expected, but of course there is the fear factor, which in my opinion is overblown from an RVers point of view. However there are a few basic rules to follow down there and it is advisable to travel with a group, either an organized caravan or simply an ad hoc group of 2 or 3. Mainly so you have someone to go for help in case of a breakdown more than anything. I tend to stick to the toll roads which are up to US interstate standards for the most part and are regularly patrolled by the Green Angels who are like AAA and appear to be able to fix almost anything. I don't travel after dark and I do not boondock down there, unless I am in a group. I always avoid any known trouble areas. The last 2 years we have taken our granddaughter & put her in school down there. I have amassed a lot of experience over the last 6 years of spending 4 or 5 months down there in an RV, and am attempting to impart some of that knowledge. The paperwork involved, for eg can be very daunting until you have done it once.

Yes it's what people need to become educated about, to cross an entire country off a list because of some news reports and negative press is a real shame. I remember one time many years ago while spending time in my favorite bookstore (the travel section) reading about the dangers of a particular city, areas to avoid at night, gun toting thugs etc....it turned out the city in question was NY......my city, at that point I had lived there 25 years and never saw anything the book referred to. As always caution and a good Heads Up Attitude is important, also being educated about areas to avoid, these areas exist in all Countries...
