Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

RV and Workamping

As a dreamer, I've looked at workamping opportunities just to see what could be out there when we begin our full time adventure.  As well as the resume, many employers request a photo of you and of your rig.  I understand the employer wants their place to look nice. So here's my question:

Is it important to buy a 5th wheel that's new or only a couple years old?  Or --- are we going to be "out of luck" if we purchase a 5er that might be older?  Just how "fussy" is the general employer?  confuse

Thanks for your advice.

I think their reasoning is they dont want someone pulling up to work with duct tape holding the corners of your trailer together ,cardboard & black trash bags for windows and someone jumping out in a 1970's polyester suit full of stains and tears yelling "Hey I'm here!!!  (and this happen's more than you think!)

A clean Rig normally makes the difference not its age but some places now wont let you park for the night unless you have a new rig and pay with an American Express Black onyx Card.

I dont think having an older coach should effect you , Im sure if your traveling you would not purchase something that looked bad enough that it was going to cause problems.

as far as a photo of the Rig......while your on the road and you find a really nice spot that makes your rig look like a million bucks , take that picture!

same with yourself...Also as you go, Relax it will all come together!!!........Besides,the "what if box" always has something in the bottom of it . better to leave it there sometimes like the last cookie, and let somebody else enjoy it!!!

Thank you, Lucky Mike---- I'll put the duct tape back in the cupboard drawer. LOL.  I know we'll need to workamp, and want to make the best choice for us so we have as many employment opportunities as possible.
