Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Removing crew seat from F450

Has anyone tried to remove the seat in the crew cab from an F450?  Any tips or suggestions? 

We've decided we need the storage room for some of the items we use in Dale's booth for art shows that we really don't want getting wet.  Some things we can store in the bed of the truck without a problem, but not everything.  Eventually we'll probably get a second vehicle but we're trying to wait until we've established a new domicile so at least for now we need to get through a couple more art shows in the rainy Pacific NW.

When I bought my Chevy truck they pulled out all the seats to put in all leather seats; I believe your talking about the back seat; if so they will have bolts at the bottom of the legs; remove all the bolts and push the seat belts through; you may or may not have to unplug some wires under the seat it will take two of you to remove the seat; it will be a little heavy; I believe that should be all you have to do; not to big of a job, have fun.

Did that to my F350 for my dogs. Seat belts bolted to the floor....1 torx bolt each. Approx.6 torx bolts if I remember for the seat. Very easy job!!

Great, thanks for the feedback. Next project for Dale to do after he moves the 5v'er back to our driveway and attempts to level it as much as possible (long, downhill driveway). Hopefully we'll finalize most of our packing over the next couple of weeks.

Ruth,

Doesn't the rear seat fold down to some degree to allow for more carrying space in there?  Also, where would you store the rear seat once it is removed?  The reason I ask is because our 2008's rear seat will fold over with the seat cushions.

Terry, the seats do fold down, however, for us to store items on top of the folded down seats requires quite a bit of effort for 2 short people, plus we could really use the extra room of not having the seats in there at all. Part of our art booth set up includes fairly heavy displays (glass and wood) that we don't want to store in the bed of the truck where they will get wet. There are some shows that we do that have time limits, they want our vehicle unloaded and moved to artist parking within 15-20 minutes of starting the unloading process. Removing the seats would make that process much less cumbersome.

We're thinking they will be stored in our storage room that we're renting.
