Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Newbie 5th wheel owner, purchased Aug 2012.We winterize and walk away, returning in the spring for campground lakeside fun.
Upon arrival this spring, I found wet carpet along bedroom floor edges (wet under windows and head of bed) some wrinkling of wallpaper under windows. How do I trouble shoot this? Determine and fix source of incoming water? Roof looks dry - no stain spots, no wrinkling of material.
Perform a full exterior inspection. Check all caulk seams around trim, caps, windows, corners etc....if you have no luck there are RV dealers who have Pressurized leak detection equipment.
Thanks for your responses, I will start there! I am certain I'm too far in the sticks for any pressure testing - likely the nearest would be Minneapolis or perhaps further. Also, this sits on one of MN's 10,000 lakes year round, its never on the road (unfortunately). Is it best to remove all caulking around windows and start fresh, which brand/type caulk would you recommend?
Any type of high quality silicone....also if you want it to look clean pickup some blue painters tape. Apply tape above and below the line you want to make, apply a thin bead, strike, and remove the tape...
if you are going to remove or loosen window framing in any way while recaulking on the outside make sure to buy a roll of putty tape to reseal the window frames
