Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Don't ever give up on your Dreams. What sites do you to find the position. I know that most rv forum site has workkamping opportunities. I have seen some that are looking for some one to work. Matter of fact one in Cortez CO. Tell me where you wanna go to and i"ll help if I can.
We have been having a hard time finding good workcamping jobs. Most of the ones we find don't offer wages. Are a lot of them doing away with that? Also the ones we do find we never hear back from. Not even a No Thank you, we have already had the position filled. We are a young thirty something family. We still need some kind of supplemental income. Yes we do have quite a bit of savings but not enough to live on for long period of time. We do have our small business that we are taking to flee markets and fairs. I just don't know if this is going to be enough. Should we just give up and wait till we retire and have our retirement and social security to rely on?
Thanks everyone. I will check out theses sites. We are looking to head south for the Winter. We hope leave UT by October. Hopefully in the Arizona, Florida, Texas, or Southern California area.
The southern states usually don't pay any wages because they realize there is not as many jobs available during that time of the year. This is why most people find Spring; summer and Fall employ. Amazon.com hires in the Fall; their ad is on Workers on Wheels as well. It is best to get your cash stocked up; and then relax from Jan. to March.

Most of us 'work camp' for a measure of payment because we would like to cover some of the expenses of the RV lifestyle. That is by no means a method of paying for all of one's bills. May I respectfully suggest that you don't have a wider field of view? The RV is just a place to bunk. It has nothing to do with where you park it to go to a place of employment that does pay the bills.

I dont think I would give up , but as most have said workamping is not to make a living it is to supplement your RV lifestyle.....if one has to work 20 hours a week to get a full hookup site for a month , that equals out to 600 to 1200 dollars a month your not handing out of your savings just for a place to park...
something you might want to look into is something that is a marketable venture that you could use as a business that is portable and high in demand.
living in an RV saves no money if you look at what it costs day to day in a stick and brick....only difference is now you are mobile , which means that your source of income must also now become mobile. with a little thought this also can be accomplished with great success.
I've lived out here for years and always made good if not better money and still doing it..........there are some out here retired and have there money work for them.......some live on SSI and are doing it well........others saved enough to create a budget and supplement the rest.
Its all doable....look at the whole picture write down and prioritize the first ten major problems and then plan and solve each one individually.
if you have some money put back....take 20 dollars of it and think real hard what it will take to double it in an hour or 2 without losing that 20 then do it!!.......when you figure it out put the 20 back and do it again....then do it with 40....then 80....then 160 , the more you gain the easier it gets to roll it over each time you roll it over be thinking how you can invest in an easier method til you fine tune something you like to do , and its working.
any one can do it.....Im still doing it......................sit down think about it and do it!!!

We are deciding on workcamping because Social Security & such will NOT be there for us in our future, ever. Soo...we eliminated the term 'retirement' from our vocabulary and are just going for it. May I suggest, if you have not already done so, put your budget on 'paper', excel, whatever- but look at it; you may find places you can cut, live without or spend less on. Look at 'do I NEED this' versus 'do I WANT this'? Our budget and vision of fulltiming became focused the moment we asked ourselves these questions.
Don't forget to look at your talents and use your imagination and put it to 'work'. I have only known nursing all my life, but I am trying to extract from that what I can bring to fulltiming jobs, and going from there. We are a year off from going fulltiming, so all this may be for not, I am just sharing perspective.
Good luck, please let us know how you are making out! Be a Dreamer!

Thanks again to everyone! We do have our store that we can hopefully take to Renaissance fairs and flee markets. We sell lots of renaissance things and I make custom synthetic dreadlocks and we also make and sell cell phone holders and water bottle holders and I do tarot readings and dream analysis. Thank you again for all your suggestions. I hope to see all ya'll on the road.
