Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
a short search on Craigslist in different areas of Florida brings up several of those type units....depending on where you are this would be a good start!!
My husband and I have had a dream for a few years - when we retire to travel around the country in an RV. My parents did this. Well, last week he lost his job - 4 years too early, but what the heck. So, we'll start a bit early. Our plan is to use the summers to travel and get the hang of retirement. My job allows me the summers off :)
The only problem we're having at the moment is finding a Roadtrek 190 - they sell on the east coast as fast as they are posted! LOL
Any suggestions from those who have been doing this for awhile would be fantastic. We're a bit nervous. Oh, we have two dogs too - a Wheaton and a Maltese :)
Thanks everyone!
Kookie

Welcome to the RV Dreams forums. The folks here are very friendly and knowledgeable and will be able to help you with most any questions you may have, so feel free to ask away. About the only things we don't discuss here are religion and politics. Incidentely, there are no "dumb" questions. The are only the ones that aren't asked and one then makes expensive mistakes.
Glad to have you as part of the "family."

Thank you Mike! We're in New York State, not much here on Craigslist, but I keep looking LOL I'm thinking of sending my husband on his own road trip to Florida or the Carolinas. Seems there are many more there.
Thank you so much for the welcome and the suggestion - we really appreciate it

That's fantastic - no politics and no religion. I belong to a quilting blog for the past 3 years, this site looked so much like it, I joined. Now I see it sounds like it too :) So glad to have found the site.

Welcome aboard Pat, I can empathize with the job situation. Mine is always precariously perched on the edge and I have just over two years til social security can be taken. At this age, in this economy finding a suitable job is not a likely scenario. It is wonderful to have a fall back plan just in case. We need to get our fifth wheel bought just in case the worst happens. I have a spreadsheet that counts down the days and I have just under 900.
To me, RVing is an opportunity to hook up with lifelong friends that we have remained in contact with all these years and more frequently visit with family in all corners of our great nation. Not to mention exploring every nook and cranny that even remotely appears interesting.
Good luck on your journey. You will always find support here.

Kookie: That is what happened to me the fall of 2009; company downsized and the owner said Adios. After working there for 8+ yrs and trying to make it to early SS wasn't to be. I had and still have an older CLass-C, I found my first work camp job through WorkamperNews.com and started that December for site and hookups. Then in the Spring 2010 started at Adventureland Amusement Park for pay and site; utilities. I worked at various places until July 2012. To keep it short you can read about me in the Physical and health thread.
It can be done and with the people on this forum you will get many ideas. Be Safe!!!
