Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Sold home to first person who viewed it

We had hoped to rent but the first renter (that we liked) fell thru and since we were both anxious about hitting the road without a decision made I called a local realtor intending to interview 3 and see their marketing plans before deciding. First realtor came and as she viewed the house, we told her that we would prefer to rent rather than sell as we love this area to come back to someday. Realtor said she had a client looking for this exact house specs who was staying with her sister in the neighborhood until she found a home. Realtor called her client at that time showed her the house immediately. Lady loved our house, and came back with her sister today. Sister loved the house.  Stayed 1.5 hours and then wrote a contract with a cash offer over asking, with no appraisal needed. (With al the foreclosues we dont believe house woul appraise for asking) If buyer doesn't have a contract on her Seattle house by June 1, she pays significant rent on our home starting June 1 until closing.  Great deposit and a single low percentage realtor contract for that offer. (We bought low and sold high.)

Seems to me that this full-timing life is what we're meant to do!

PS purchased a new 38.5 ft. 5er this week and pick up next. Once we had contract signed with dealer they stopped returning our calls ("so busy") so this AM I called manufacturer's national sales manager  and things started to happen!  It feels like high end rv dealers are like used car salesmen, all promises and no action.

Whew, we'll be on the road soon!!!

Sherry & Jesse

Congratulations on both the sale/rental of the house and on the new acquisition of the fifth wheel.  Do we get a clue as to what brand and model you chose?

Yay!!! Sherry and Jesse, looks like things are happening very quickly for you, so happy to hear the good news. Your story gives us hope that when we finally finishing painting and fixing things (which we're hoping to have done within 2 weeks) that we'll have quick results on the house, that is of course, if we ever get our truck, so we can pick up the trailer and move into our new house on wheels. Thanks for the report, we needed to hear something positive today!!

Dale & Ruth, may have missed your latest post on truck but hoping you'll get it on time?

No St. Joseph statue, no time for even prayers! We are taking our small St. Francis carving with us though so perhaps he interceded!? Just fell into place. We got highest per sq. ft. $ since prior to 2006! Still in shock.

Terry, once dealer confirms (and they are being lousy up to this point) and we drive off the lot I'm not saying brand or model.

Thanks for all the great wishes!

Sherry & Jesse

Sherry - truck is delayed to the point where we will be delaying getting the house on the market by at least 20-30 days, perhaps even cancelling an art show because we won't have our trailer and nowhere to stay without forking out $$$ for a hotel that would be 30 minute drive each way vs. staying in the parking lot where the show is to be held, which will mean forfeiting a big booth fee and lose of income for a show.

Ford has really messed up with this order, no one can tell us when or where the truck can be picked up, still in the factory in KY with no delivery date or location known. We have no answers, no idea when or where we'll see our truck, every alternative they've offered is a truck that is more expensive with way more features than we want and several key components missing. It's like they want us to reward their mess up by buying a more expensive truck and then having to add after market components at yet more $$ and at the same time continue to delay us in being able to get our trailer home and packed. Not worried about 10 days to pack anymore, just now wondering if we'll get to pack the trailer before we even put the house on the market or even worse, not having a home at all if our house were to sell as quick as yours. Ford is causing me lots of sleepless nights in Seattle:(

I needed to hear a good story tonight because we're living a nightmare right now.

Dale & Ruth,

Really sorry that you may have to cancel the art show! It's crazy making when dealers don't keep their promises. On your original truck thread several advised that you might want to contact an attorney, a route I hesitate to go, but wondering if with that help you might get one of those trucks they're trying to sell you with upgrades at the same price as your original?

One of my sons used to be an exec at Ford but he was on the high end car side. I know how little power they really have with the independent dealers.

The good news is that you have more time to get organized, finish the house and get it sold. I'm really hoping things will work out for you in the end.

BTW, our buyer from NW Washington and her house is getting a lot of traction & her realtor expects to have it under contract w/in weeks.

Sending you good wishes and hugs for the stress.

She who is up at 3 am again but not so grumpy this time - aka Sherry

Ruth, so sorry for the stress. That's the last thing you need right now. Just keep taking deep breaths. Oh, guess what I have on the TV, yep "sleepless in Seattle ".
Hang in there.

Ann and Sherry - thanks!!

We have cut our ties with the local Ford dealer, just lost patience with them, especially after talking to a dealer in OK where our trailer is waiting for us to pick it up. We're starting on order number 2, hoping and praying it goes faster and easier than the first one. We'll probably have the house on the market before the truck is ready and therefore will be putting all the trailer "stuff" sitting in our garage into storage. I was trying to avoid that, but we don't feel like we have much of a choice.

And yes, we're cancelling out of our show at the end of April, will remove some of the stress but will also be lost income, not happy about it, but we just decided it was what we need to do for now.

3 garage sales done. Last one this weekend. Our lovely neighbors had us for dinner Saturday night then we collapsed. A great dinner really helped. Our cleaning woman came yesterday so the chaos feels more under control. One room with furniture and items to take to son's guest house. One room with items to store. Boxes of family crystal packed to go to oldest son's in WA (we'll pack in back of car on our way to workamping in Oregon. Using lawn chairs for living room furniture. We just keep asking, why did we keep all this stuff for so long???
Physicals done and final tests scheduled, chiropractor visits completed. Cat and pup had their shots up to date. Now to finally finish organizing the office......my nemesis!!
Can't wait!

All of this sounds like great news.  How is the RV search going?  Any better luck with the dealer?

Thanks for asking Terry,

So..... Frustrated with first deal then walked out on a second deal (can't remember what I posted on here). Had three different contracts signed, I do not like most RV dealers! That said, we are happy with our purchase! In spite of some not so positive comments on the Trilogy's, we bought a 3rd generation 3650RL and its beautiful. Had quite a few small problems with the dealer but the space and design are perfect for us.

We are in last day of 4 weekend garage sales and its time to be done. People are irritating me today 😄. Half our stuff is in the rig and very little left in the house. Can't park it in front of our house for more than a day or two as we are in an HOA.

Just a couple of more weeks and we're outta here.

Sherry

Good to hear all that.  With any brand, one can run into situations where a particular year or two might have poor quality construction or features.  It might be that way with the two Trilogys that I looked at and reviewed.

While there were a lot of things I liked about the Trilogy, some of the other things just wouldn't work for Jo and I.  Those same things may never bother other folks.

I also understand the frustration of having HOA's to deal with.  In the past, we have always tried to avoid any housing addition that had too restrictive of a covenant.  We looked at one place and liked what we saw, but when we asked about parking an RV behind the house, they said we would have to build a shed to house it.  Also, we could not have parked the RV even overnight outside in order to load up stuff for a vacation.

We ended up buying a house immediately north of that addition that allowed folks to park RV's outside.  I've always had a problem with spending a lot of money on a place just to have someone tell me how I can use it.

Terry

Our HOA is quite decent from what I've heard of others. Low rates, great reserves and very well kept.
But many of our neighbors balk at the restrictions, I wonder why they don't review the rules before buying? We only part-timed when we moved here but are now counting days to hit the road. Thanks for your support, Terry.

Sherry - I don't know how you have the patience for that many garage sales!! I had one yesterday, was very happy to see 2 large items go, but after all the work to set it up and get ready for it, I am happily donating any else we're getting rid of to charity. Hope this last one goes well for you!

Happy Dance for us, Dale made it to Rolling Retreats last night and spent his first night in our new home. He'll be on the road Tuesday bringing it back here so we can load it with our stuff and get this place on the market!!

Ruth,

I wasn't so patient this last sale, I was kind of PO'd at a few who offered quarters for $10.00 items!
I am so glad they're over but also had fun prior weeks meeting a lot of new people and get to know some neighbors we've never met and I swear we convinced a couple to do what we're doing! 😛 They'll be hanging out on this site in no time!

I hope Dale is thrilled with your new unit and I bet you can't wait to get your hands on it. We toured some of their DRV's there last fall but they weren't in our budget! Think weather is going to get hinky so I hope he just stops if it does.

Too funny, the people who bought our bed & nightstand but aren't picking them up to May 1st called and just came bought our 32" bedroom TV and a file cabinet. They're regulars now.

There are lots of charities who will pick up the rest. Ill call them this week while Jesse is in in SD.

Hope we meet up soon!

Sherry

Sherry - we were fortunate to find a 2010 pre-owned DRV in the floor plan we wanted, new DRVs would have been out of our price range so I totally understand that dilemma.

I can't wait to get our new rig home, hatching a plot to see if I can fly out on Friday to an airport that is on his route home and finish the drive with him. Since this is a dream for both of us, I'd like to participate in at least a small part of this portion of the journey! Just waiting to see for sure when he leaves Rolling Retreats, what the next snow storm does and if that causes a delay for him as he will be traveling through eastern WY. I had so hoped that by mid-April the winter storms would not be a factor on this drive.

I have a charity scheduled to pick up all furniture that didn't sell that we don't want for staging. We also, met a guy who owns a consignment furniture store who thinks he can sell the few remaining pieces that are needed for staging but didn't sell in the online estate auction. Our house is starting to look sooooo spacious, now I just have to tackle the clothes and books and determine what we really need vs. want to take with us.
