Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
I've already posted in other forums, but I guess I should introduce us here!
My name is Jess (yes, just Jess, not Jessie, except by my mother...), my wife is Christine.
Most important is our Border Collie Tobi (CC-Zero-Tobias). He has become our newest 'son', and my sidekick when I am out on my Motorcycle, a 2009 Harley-Davidson Ultra-Glide Classic.

When we got married, Christine and I had already wanted to get out and away, heck we met via the local Harley Owner's Group. Christine sold her house and we moved her and her two adult children into my house. "My House" being a family owned property which includes 3 other houses as well as a 21 Acre farm on Cape Cod, owned by my family as a whole, not just me.

We plan on returning back to the Cape each summer to help my family run and manage it (I am currently the General Manager) for a few months, but want to live in the RV at the time. I am currentlytrying to convince the town that its ok to have a few RVs on the property as "temporary farm worker lodging." Currently there is a bylaw that allows RVs within certian setbacks as long as they are not habitated, even for a couple of weeks. Ultimatly, I want to actually have a couple of other workamper couples there with us. Our dependence on College and high-school aged help only goes so far.
I was a technology professional, and when I had a business (more on that in a bit), I would work with large resorts and clients installing all their technology needs, then maintain them, to include PCs, Wiring, Low-voltage lighting, Audio/Visual, Wireless, etc. Everything from each and every room to the large conference rooms and classrooms. It all came to an abrupt hault when, the day after returning from my father's wake, I rode a imporoperly secured contractor's ladder off a roof like a tobbogan. I ended up in a Concrete front drive of a new Golf Pro Shop with a severly injured left lower leg. Like I cat I landed on my feet, only my feet didn;t like that idea. At least it was my leg/foot and not spine/head/etc. I was in the the hospital for a couple of months. 5 surgeries later (last one was recent), I should finally be mostly pain free and able to be fully ambulatory, and even Hike again!
Christine is a CPA with her Masters in Taxation, she travels to boston every day (90 minutes, each way) to work. During the Tax Season (right now as of this writing) she works 6 days a week, 10-12 hours a day. She comes home every evening exhausted, and saying "I will never do this again, when are we leaving?"
We have yet to purchase a RV (I have owned a 5th wheel, and a 32' gas Class A), but do have a 40' Horse Trailer that I have renovated to fit both our Bikes, or a Bike and a Horse (My daughter rides, a lot) and full-service living quarters, for a horse trailer. We have taken my bike (before we had Tobi) with a trailer in tow and tent camped for a month, traveling from here on Cape to the west where we saw Glacier, Yellowstone area, South Dakota, and back. We cam camp, with very limited space, and LOVE it. What we want though, is a Full-Timing rig. The horse trailer is old (origionally made in 1973), and really only good for a couple of days at a horse show or weekend campsite at a time. I am leaning towards a Class 8 truck conversion, for the size, pulling power, ease of drving while on the road, and ability/cost to maintain at any truck stop. We have also looked at Class-A Diesel rigs that can pull 12,000-15,000lbs, as we intend to have a trailer for the toys.
We want to go full time mid to late summer, depending on how much I will be needed this year at the Farm. We have a house filled with stuff, fortunatly one room is my daughter's and will be moved over to my parent;s house. Christine's two children have moved out and are successfully handling their respective lives. That leaves Tobi, and us.
Its an adventure of a lifetime that I am guessing many of you simply love. We hope to share the experience with you!
Welcome to the forums. You will find a number of folks here that also like the motorcycle "hobby." So, you should fit in pretty well to the family of RV'ers here. As "family," feel free to ask any questions or make any comments as long as they aren't political or religious. Those are the only two topics that we tend to avoid.
Good luck with the research and planning.
Terry

Jess and Christine,
Sounds like you are ready for that adventure of a lifetime. Love the pic of you and Toby in the parade. When we had our little boy Boomer he never really took to the bikes so we would have to leave him behind on bike trips.
You found a great forum with some really nice folks who will offer whatever assistance they can to your questions.
Good luck in your adventures and ride safe!

Welcome to the forum. If you do consider a 5er, do take a serious look at Jack & Danielle's. I haven't seen theirs specifically, but have been in other New Horizons & they just blow you away! Jack won't lead you wrong and is well known among full timers on multiple forums. If not there's lots of other good suggestions on here from lots of folks for different budgets and life styles.
