Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Hello all! We're from the Pacific Northwest and I'm about a year and a half away from retirement. My dream has always been to travel around the US and Canada in an RV seeing this wonderful country of ours! I'm retired Navy and thus got to travel around the US during my various tours and also various parts of the world. There is alot to see out there!! My wife is from South Korea, and even though she has lived here for 30 years, she has not seen alot, except for the NW and one vacation to the Midwest. We've always gone on day trips and she enjoys these, but I've told her there is alot more out there to see. I have kids and grandkids down in San Diego and also in Arkansas, and she has kids, but no grandkids yet, in Colorado and Tennessee. So I've told her this is a great way to see them all, see alot of this beautiful country, and have fun in our retirement years.
I have a nice 1-ton dually diesel and plan on getting a fifth wheel to travel in. I've been reading alot on the different forums trying to gather information on the different makes and models, their reliability, and how customer service is on these brands. I came across this forum and I have been impressed with the knowledge and with the friendliness of you folks, so I decided to jump in and join the forum and learn even more. I also saw there was quite a few military retirees (thank you for your service folks), and hope to pick their brains on different things that apply to us.
So, that's about it! I can't wait to get started, just wish my second retirement was this year and not next year!! lol
Welcome. Thank you for your service to our Great Nation. As you noted you found a great forum with some really cool people. We are lucky to have found it as well. Although you are still a little ways out from retiring, you are starting off right by researching and gathering info. It took us several years of all kind of mind numbing research to collect the data we needed to move forward with our plans and we are still evolving with our thoughts and plans.
Good luck in all your endeavors and safe travels.
Regards,
Les

"CHARACTER is doing the right thing when no one is looking"
Mike & Myong, welcome aboard. I remember being a year from retirement. It seemed like a lifetime. With exception of your wife when on deployment, you'll never miss anything as much as active duty. How I miss wearing that uniform.
I am still in the planning stages but within a year of buying my coach. I wouldn't want to take this journey without the folks on this board. You can look at every RV out there for months but you will begin to learn about them here. From toilets to tow vehicles, when it comes to information these folks are full of it. Information I mean! I started out interested in RVs but now find myself more interested in keeping track of where the RV-Dreams family is and what they are up to.

Allow me to also extend a welcome to the RV Dreams forums. I'll also extend my thanks for your service and for Myong's sacrifices as well. My military service was way back in the '60's and mostly prior to getting married, so my wife didn't have to do the long waits.
Feel free to ask any questions that you may have as we all tend to learn from each other's questions. Much of the research and choosing of an RV will depend on what your RV'ing lifestyle is planned to be. Take your time in looking both at RV shows and at dealerships. Spend plenty of time in each one that interests you to see how normal day to day activities would be done in the space available.
I usually tell everyone to pay attention to the frame, axles, suspension, tires and wheels as those make up the very foundation of one's RV.

hello everyone!! my name's liberty but my friends call me libby, my family calls me lib..soon it'll be just l....lol anyways, i'm new here..ive been reserching all the info i can find on rving and tripped over this forum. ive been reading through posts here and making notes on some good advice that i intend to put to use in the near future.
my story seems to be different from most here. to begin with, i havent bought my rv, never owned one in the past oh, and i'm in australia atm. yes, thats right, i did say australia. ive been here in queensland for nearly 3 years and before that italy(mostly sicily and a lil up north in milan) anyways, i'm orginally from ny but last time i was in the u.s. was......hmmm, lemme think for a sec..1998. i mostly owned restaurants/pizzerias w/my husband throughout the years in pa, ny and italy but, in 2008..i left the husband, italy and the restaurant behind and went exploring new lands. i went through europe, staying a while in limerick ire and also vienna aus, til i decided to go extreme and journey on out to australia. being that this is an introduction post and not my whole life story post, i'll just some things up by saying, "australia isnt for me."
so, here we are 3 years later, (we, is myself and 15 year old daughter) about to immigrate to our native country. the plan is, after arriving in the states, to buy a used class a around 10 g's and live full time in it while traveling around....and basically we'll see what happens as we go.
we will be traveling with our 2 other family members, meaty and romeo. meaty is a handsome, loyal & lovable chow and his brother from another mother, romeo, the lil maltese with a devo personality. i look forward 2 making new friends here.
erm....it appears i made a mistake with my very 1st post here. i seemed to have high jacked mike and myongs intro. i'm really sorry about that. but, hey.....welcome mike and myong!!!!!
Thanks all for the warm welcome! Really appreciate it! There is alot of information on here, so I plan on reading a bunch on the various topics. @Terry, I really like the DRV's and plan on hitting the dealer down in Oregon in the near future and really checking them out. From what I've seen, my biggest challenge would be to find one that does not exceed my GVWR. So I will be looking closely at that. If I have questions, I might PM you, since you seem to have a wealth of knowledge about these.
Oh, and road skool, no problem with the high jack!! Welcome back to the states and I hope you enjoy the RVing lifestyle, as I plan to do!!
Welcome to this forum. We totally understand posting in the wrong thread as we've done it ourselves. Hang in there and ask away; a lot of experienced RVers on here.
Welcome all.
Sherry
