Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Hi to all forum members. My name is Leila. Me and my husband Bill are planning on sell everything and hitting the road full time in 3yrs 5months.Bill is retired 2002 after 21yrs in the United States Air force but could not stop working due to 2 great kids we had to get throw school first. Our daughter has graduated college and our son has one and half years left in high school. Our plan is when our sons graduates high school and off to college we will sell everything buy an RV and park at the AFB here in Tucson. Bill will stay working at Kit Peak for one to two years so we can get used to rving and save some money up because his military retirement we will not be able to live off of. With him working his 40hrs in 3 days that gives him 4 days a week off and sometimes his schedule will give him 7 days off in a row. So we figured we can go exploring here in Arizona on little trips to get used to RV being we have never done anything like it before not even camping. I am hoping to find out some great information from all you guys who have been down this road already and can mentor us on our path. Here are a few of the topics I have been thinking of so maybe you can tell me what forums I can look at for some answers.
1.Tricare health insurance how it works for full time rving
2.Buying a used class a RV and what we should watch out for.
3.Work camping jobs and how working for Amazon was.
4.How to prevent expensive problems with an RV.
5.Selling things on e-bay has that worked for anyone out there to earn some extra money.

First, welcome to the forum. Second, thank you for protecting our freedoms.
Ok, number 1. We had been using Tricare prime. Worked okay until something serious happened, then we had to skeedaddle back to our PCM for follow-up work. We are now switching to standard and will see how that works for us.
Number 2. We bought new so can't help with buying used. Not sure why we didn't look at used coaches. I guess when we saw our coach we fell in love with it and that was the end of shopping.
Number 3. Been there, done that. I liked Amazon, DW hated it. We are not spring chickens anymore, and Amazon is WORK. 10+ hour days on your feet, keeping the piece count up, not making mistakes. It helps if a person is in good shape. We still workamp and enjoy it. Helps keep the expenses down when your not on the road all the time. We meet the nicest people and get to explore the local area. I recommend workamper.com for finding work.
Number 4. We purchased an extended warranty that gave us 7 years of coverage and it has payed for itself many times over. Ask Howard for a quote.
Number 5. No first hand experience on this one, sorry.

Thanks you all so much for your worm welcomes and helping us with our little list of question. Please NorCal Dan I would love to hear how the standard polices works for you. Insurances is a big concern with us. Luckily we both are in pretty good shape so hopefully when we hit the road it will be the same. Working at Amazon could be a solution to helping us to stay on the road so it was nice to hear it was ok. Thank you again Leila and Bill
Welcome, Tricare standard has worked well for us. I had a heart attack and don't remember the cost being too high. I get my medications through the mail and don't spend much for that. I think tricare will work well for us.

We don't switch to standard until April 1st. While it will cost us more out of pocket I think the ability to see a doctor at our location is better than having to use urgent care and then traveling back to see our PCM for follow-up work. I guess time will tall if this was a good move for us or not. I think we will have to wait at least a year if we want to switch back to prime. Military.com had some recent articles on possible future changes to veteran health care and they are talking a 365% cost increase. Yikes!

DH is on TriCare for Life so i am too. Not sure how that differs from Standard or whatever is currently available but its awesome. Get prescriptions thru Express Scripts and will do so with our mail forwarding service in Two months!! Ill get prescriptions for quarterly blood work and just have it sent to my doc in AZ. Carry copies of med file and tests.
Welcome Leila & Bill. In your tours of AZ, be sure to stop at Dead Horse Ranch State Park in Cottonwood and explore the area. So much to see here in the Verde Valley (especially fresh in my mind as we're taking houseguests all around this week) and re-enjoying our favorite sites.

Thanks you all for all the great info on insurance. First hand information helps us a lot. We defiantly will check out the areas you have told us about in Arizona Sherry. Thanks again Leila and Bill
I can't help you with the insurance questions, but, I can welcome you to the RV Dreams forums. I also want to join the others in thanking you for your service.
Glad to have you as part of the family, and as such, feel free to ask any questions you might have about RV'ing or the RV lifestyle.
